Well if there was actually a club, it could be promoted. I spent a year telling ever line owner I met about the club or soon to be club.

After having to meet the same people and having to tell them there is no club yet again and again. I gave up, I felt like an idiot.

I have since joined 3 clubs one of which cost $150, but its money well spent.

Of the 3 clubs I am a member they have regular meets, cruises dinners etc, all well attended and organized.

In the end I just lost faith in there ever would be a club set up here.

Even when I tried to help/offer it was NO we have it sorted, felt like there was a little elite group and I was not invited.

Its great to see the other states are way ahead and I wish them the best.

As for me I will still enjoy what I love most and that's my imports, cruising and the club scene,

Good luck to ever is in charge these days and I hope you get there one day.

As for

"i think it just goes to show how skyline drivers are 99% posers these days."

and that comes from someone who would go on a skyline cruise's but not take his own, well. No offense Dave hey.

I am amazed at the delight of how many skyline owners I meet that are so keen to join a Skyline club...............but that sad fact that there is no club.

yes well its glaringly obvious there, 2 cruises in the one weekend isnt a good idea, specially one so far north, then one so far south :)

im sure one of these days slips gonna get off his ass and sort it, but i spose it does take a lot of time, and most people work.

my 2 cents are, bring on the club, and bring back my licence

james - yes, some people had some excuses, and im not even going to blame slips cruise, but seriously now, for 2 cruises, both totally different, what we got less then 15 cars for both put together???

to me, thats not cricket, that is more similar to a weird retarded form of tidley winks...

its not to say that we shouldnt have 2 cruises on the 1 weekend, but my point is, even if that was an excuse, atleast go to one of them... not either...

That one cruise that Andrew and I tried to organise that a few people came and ripped to shreads really makes you feel like "Why do I bother" ... I know there was some interest, but as already stated in here, you get all theses people saying "yeah I'll go .. FOr sure... I'll be there" ...Then no one turns up.

Luke has been telling me that the club is getting closer and closer each time I see him... but nothing yet. I haven't joined any clubs simply because I have a b/f that isn't interested in anything besides himself and his car. So there's no point joining a car club if you aren't allowed to attend the functions. Is there?

I will also say that other people have other commitments in life that don't always allow them to attend EVERY cruise. I personally am not a fan of the Mountain Runs, hence why I don't attend. But I have never once insinuated that I was going to attend. I have made it quite clear from the beginning that I don't like Mountain Cruises, hence why I don't attend.

As for the sunshine coast cruise, I didn't even know it was on, call me lazy or just plain stupid but I didn't look in the QLD section to see if there was any cruise. I normally only look in the wasteland.

That's my bitch..

It's a lot easier to join a club then to start one. Don't think that we've given up, it's just very difficult to organise stuff, and find time to do all the running around and paper work and get this stuff going. The club is registered, just we've got a few more things to organise before we can take on members in a way that we'd feel comfortable and confident. We could just take peoples money now, and have a few cruises, but we want to give every member their value for money, and things have to be done right.

We are getting close to having everything finalised. And i'll guarantee that all the other clubs around had similar difficulties in the begining as well. Myself, slip, luke/abu53, gary all have fulltime jobs and it's not as easy to get everyone, and everything together.

And besides, there's more to a club then a piece of paper saying you're a member, a lot of people on here have known each other for years, helped each other, and had some great days/events together. I don't think that should ever be given up on.

was going to go on slips cruise because i never have been up to the sunshine coast except for a holiday in my mums house in coolum. didnt go because the numbers were disapointing, and everyone was late, and heaps of lines passed and never stopped >=[

the sunday cruise I was going to go to but didnt know where the **** that place was/is. and I dont know what to type into www.whereis.com.au to find it :) so I didnt go,a nd my cousin used me to fix some tax accounts computer(****ing hate her now and stupid ibtch threw away all her cds that she got with the cable and computer...)

However, I reckon we meet somewhere in the next 2 weeks, wheather it be thursday night at aspley maccas in the hypermarket carpark(that way we are able to all park together and talk to one another without running all over the car park :)

or met at yatala BP/maccas at 7:30pm on saturdays so we get car parks because everyone goes at 8-9pm. fuela nd eat there and all leave together to somewhere.

radios are cheap now, two for $99 at dick smiths and they are uniden, they dot he job, but you wont be able to have your stereo up :( heaps of fun :D and if you were on the coast on sat night you would have heard me on chl 17 till about 10pm then 20 till 3am ;)

I dont know whats the best thing for the sunshine state people as I dont know how long it takes for us to get to you and vice versa, and how many of you up there, to see if its even worth the trip.

anyway I'm just saying lets ALL meet one night and have a cruise, just give 2 weeks notice and everything should be ok.

*scratches head*

Can't we just all get along. I honestly don't see what the big rush is... Why do we NEED a club RIGHT NOW! Why does everyone have to explain their actions.. Why does everyone have to come here and critise everyone??

Gary, I wish I had $1000, thanks for doing that bud. That's a lot of money to fork out with a new bub.

Do you really want slip and luke and gary and birty and ... who did I forget...?? promoting a club that is only half finished?

Once again, I really don't see the big fuss, if you want to belong to something that badly, join another club.

Can I ask why my post thanking Gary for his sensible response was deleted? If on topic sensible posts are going to be removed it defeats the purpose of the forum... Thanks.

And slip, there is no need to edit your last post over and over... We get what your saying...

Regarding chaos running the club, noone said he should. I didnt think it was fair or mature for slip to single him out, I stand by that.

    • I came here to note that is a zener diode too base on the info there. Based on that, I'd also be suspicious that replacing it, and it's likely to do the same. A lot of use cases will see it used as either voltage protection, or to create a cheap but relatively stable fixed voltage supply. That would mean it has seen more voltage than it should, and has gone into voltage melt down. If there is something else in the circuit dumping out higher than it should voltages, that needs to be found too. It's quite likely they're trying to use the Zener to limit the voltage that is hitting through to the transistor beside it, so what ever goes to the zener is likely a signal, and they're using the transistor in that circuit to amplify it. Especially as it seems they've also got a capacitor across the zener. Looks like there is meant to be something "noisy" to that zener, and what ever it was, had a melt down. Looking at that picture, it also looks like there's some solder joints that really need redoing, and it might be worth having the whole board properly inspected.  Unfortunately, without being able to stick a multimeter on it, and start tracing it all out, I'm pretty much at a loss now to help. I don't even believe I have a climate control board from an R33 around here to pull apart and see if any of the circuit appears similar to give some ideas.
    • Nah - but you won't find anything on dismantling the seats in any such thing anyway.
    • Could be. Could also be that they sit around broken more. To be fair, you almost never see one driving around. I see more R chassis GTRs than the Renault ones.
    • Yeah. Nah. This is why I said My bold for my double emphasis. We're not talking about cars tuned to the edge of det here. We're talking about normal cars. Flame propagation speed and the amount of energy required to ignite the fuel are not significant factors when running at 1500-4000 rpm, and medium to light loads, like nearly every car on the road (except twin cab utes which are driven at 6k and 100% load all the time). There is no shortage of ignition energy available in any petrol engine. If there was, we'd all be in deep shit. The calorific value, on a volume basis, is significantly different, between 98 and 91, and that turns up immediately in consumption numbers. You can see the signal easily if you control for the other variables well enough, and/or collect enough stats. As to not seeing any benefit - we had a couple of EF and EL Falcons in the company fleet back in the late 90s and early 2000s. The EEC IV ECU in those things was particularly good at adding in timing as soon as knock headroom improved, which typically came from putting in some 95 or 98. The responsiveness and power improved noticeably, and the fuel consumption dropped considerably, just from going to 95. Less delta from there to 98 - almost not noticeable, compared to the big differences seen between 91 and 95. Way back in the day, when supermarkets first started selling fuel from their own stations, I did thousands of km in FNQ in a small Toyota. I can't remember if it was a Starlet or an early Yaris. Anyway - the supermarket servos were bringing in cheap fuel from Indonesia, and the other servos were still using locally refined gear. The fuel consumption was typically at least 5%, often as much as 8% worse on the Indo shit, presumably because they had a lot more oxygenated component in the brew, and were probably barely meeting the octane spec. Around the same time or maybe a bit later (like 25 years ago), I could tell the difference between Shell 98 and BP 98, and typically preferred to only use Shell then because the Skyline ran so much better on it. Years later I found the realtionship between them had swapped, as a consequence of yet more refinery closures. So I've only used BP 98 since. Although, I must say that I could not fault the odd tank of United 98 that I've run. It's probably the same stuff. It is also very important to remember that these findings are often dependent on region. With most of the refineries in Oz now dead, there's less variability in local stuff, and he majority of our fuels are not even refined here any more anyway. It probably depends more on which SE Asian refinery is currently cheapest to operate.
