BMW are changing their naming system, all the coupes now are one number higher (even numbers), just like the 6 series is actually a coupe version of the 5

but i have seen some 3 series coupes with 3 series badges (i think) so dunno wtf bmw are doing

6 series coupes have been around since the 70's are you sure it wasnt a 1 series?

They're bowing down to the marketing parasites.

They were going to name the 3 series coupe the 4 series, but because the 3 Series name has such cachet it would have been marketing suicide for them to rename the M3 to an M4.

Any BMW enthusiasts, who buy them as "driving machines", would know that the car they want is the 4 Series and deal with it. But for arriviste that know as much about cars as your typical social climber that buys a 4 cylinder BMW, they'd think they were getting something else.

Its why the 318i is still badged a 318 rather than 319i when the E46 was released, the 320i when it had a 2.2L, and the 323i when it had a 2.5L - the 318i, 320i and 323i names were so famous in the marketplace that BMW decided to ignore their own naming convention.

maybe there taking a similar page from audis' book.

a4- 4 door

a5- coupe

dunno..

couldnt find anything on the web about an M4. alot of pics saying M4 but there a Z4 :P

was the car a kinda brass coloured convertible or coupe? i've just finished my apprenticeship at BMW and am pretty sure i have seen this car come into work. the owner has done the badging themselves. there is no such thing as a 435i or M4. and also the 318i no longer exists

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
