Right Tools

Hi.

can somebody tell me the right tools for the drain and fill plugs on the diff and gearbox on a r33 gtst

1/2 inch ratchet or breaker bar is all you need mate

and maybe a bit of pipe over the end of the bar if theyre extremely tight. 14 or 17mm open ended spanner for your gearbox filler plug

my 33 box has a filler plug the same design as the drain plug, need a 1/2 breaker for it....

maybe some have these and some have the other type

ah k maybe when the type you have get rounded out by rough people they get replaced with the other type, best to check wat style plug you've got black33gtst. but generally the tools listed in above posts are the ones needed. do you have a pump to pump the oil into the units?

i have always drained the oil via the bottom drain plug, then filled the oil according to volume listed in manual via the shifter hole, so much easier since we dont all have hoists with fluid pumps on hand

i use a fuel syphon pump that i bought from bunnings and fill throught he filler plug til it comes out. and i jack the car up and put ramps/axle stands underneath

Thanks fellas, will try out my $23 for 5 litre synthetic gearbox oil and $23 for 5 litre limited slip diff oil.

I'm glad you asked lol.

I use a small local company in brisbane got on to them through my work they are called prolube. they sell most of their oils cheaper cause they concentrate on commercial sector, im currently running their syntegra 5w40 synthetic in the engine $36.27 for 5 litres, was using fuchs synthetic (again through work) find the prolube oil holds pressure much better and car seems to run heaps better on the prolube.
