Hey guys,

Looking at installing some interior neons (don't mock it, i'm extracting some more power from the engine to counter act the added rice :D ) but i want them 2 turn on when I open the doors. Where is the sensor in the door that turns the interior light on? I'm guessing I dont have to run wires through my roof to achieve this. Any help would be appreciated.

Rhys

I 'm quite sure it's inside the door locking mechanism, but correct me if I'm wrong.

It's gonna take a bit of planning and enginuity to put it all together

I installed my neons and just added a switch

Good luck with yours

its easy, if you want the neon to turn on when you open your door and turn off when you close it

just connect it to your roof interiror light by connecting the wired (cant really remember coz i done this last yr)

but connect it to the roof light and switch it to "door" so everytime you open your door it should turn on so on with closing the door.

i use velcro and stuck it up the roof..hope that helps = ]]

P.S i got the blue neon from supercheap and it wasnt that bright worst then your normal interior light

counldnt see Shi* soo i when back to normal light ^__^

so what does that mean? I'm not the best when it comes to electronics unfortunately!! I'm a f**king mechanic for shits sakes!! How bad is that!!

means if you tap into the switch - you need to connect the switch to the Earth side of your lights, then supply the light with constant +ve power

that way when the switch earths out, you get light

i think the light switch is down below the latch on the pillar part.

only down side to this is that they come on whenever you open the door. i have a blue neon as the interior light in the pulsar, but i also still have the standard light (helps when reading maps, looking for shit, etc) the interior light still works off the switch so i can have the door open and not have it on, but the neon is on whenever the door is open.

    • Thanks MBS206, i got that PDF but got abit overhelm with all the connections and tracing of wires. I wasn't expecting to plug the dash harness anywhere. i was just going to use my electronics jumper wires to plug into the right pins like ECU power, ecu ground, ignition trigger etc... I do have a few ratchet straps locking it down tight. Fire extinguisher ready and only a small amount of fuel at a time, enough to submerge the pump.
    • Thanks GTSBoy, i will do abit more digging. I am missing a blue relay near the ECU connector... so i will chase that up in the next few days as well
    • https://yariksteel.ru/manual/R33/Skyline_R33_elektroprovodka.pdf   Page 18 should be what you want for the Dash Cluster wiring. Though, you don't need the dash plugged in to get the motor running. What you want is power as how GTSBoy said. You need to power the ECU. Find in the above link the ECU pin outs (Verify them before just connecting them up from things written on the internet). Find anything needing power, give it power, find anything needing ground, give it ground. Then give the starter motor power through a big cable, and bridge the solenoid on the starter straight to power too.  ECU will be on, and when you give the starter power, it'll spin the starter motor, and it should start. I also hope you have a proper stand, and not just the engine sitting on some wood. You will want it bolted down properly.
