Hi Guys,

I have a 1997 RS4 Stagea with 4 speed Auto. I have got a problem that when I cruise at 70km/hr or above the car seems to pulse. It does not do it when accelerating or when crusiing below 70.

I have changed fuel filter, plugs and had checked the coil packs for resistance values and all seem ok. I done this as the fault seem to act like a miss fire. The car has been checked on a diagnostic tested and all fuel and engine management appear to be ok.

I had the auto box replaced and I am now wondering if the electrics / sensors on the auto box are causing the problem.

Can anyone offer any advice or has anyone experinced a similar problem.

My email is [email protected] and contact number is 0423 474 985

Cheers

Paul

There is some Auto diagnostic information on this page http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/St...ar-t203136.html , its for the R34, but the 4AT diagnostic may work.

Also, run the ECU diagnostic, if you havnt already.

But my first guess would be coil packs, even though they check alright, they are famous for leaking spark to earth around the age of yours.

Where are you located ? maybe someone can recommend a skyline expert in the area, or someone can lend you a set of coil packs. If they are at fault, best option is to get Splitfires, which is what most RB's need to do eventually.

Bad Air flow meter connection? doubtful.

Hi thankyou for the advice. I have heard that the coil packs are famous for leaking. I am in Perth so if anyone has a spare set of coil packs for me to try I would be very interested. They did look good but I guess they only need a slightest crack to cause a leak, if it is them it does explain the feeling when driving of a misfire. If it was the coil packs would this happend at all speeds as my problem only seems to happen once I get over 70kmh.

I have also cleaned the air filter (k&n) but I will check air box.

Thanks again

Paul

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
