my rule is '' if you THINK its, going to attract cops.... then it will''

ill give you a 5 out of 10 for giving it a shot, but..... you really need to do something about it.

ask members for hints if you havnt done DIY's before

Maybe this is just something "special" about series 2's but i have the blitz lm on my S1 mspec and the cross pipe sits HIGHER than my front bar... meaning firstly you cant see it and secondly u wont hit it.

i'll post a pic when i find one and maybe check out my install thread

Blitz LM install

there are some photies on page two of that topic, maybe see that you have used the correct bolt under the bonnet catch, coz it really does look too low.

Oh and in reference to fixing up your front bar. best bet is to find a bumper refurbishment company. they will plastic weld that cut out section back on but this will require a respray.

UPDATE: I just had a quick look over my old thread to remind myself of what pics were there and in reference to how much plastic i had to take out to make the endtanks and pipes fit... its alot more than pictured there. when i fitted the front bar back on properly with the reo back in place the bar pulled in so much closer to the fmic i prolly have taken out twice the amount of plastic that in shown in those pics.

OK so in addition to the install photies you will find in that thread a posted above here are a couple more shots now that i have pretty much finished my install (just some minor cosmetic work on the front bar)

The shots are at night which is the only bad part, but they still do show how much you shouldn't see that cross pipe

Hahaha oh man you raped that front bar so damn hard lol

Ah well shit happens hey, I suggest just buying another whole bar or MAYBE attempt to get the lower section plastic welded back on.. might be easier than finding a new bar.

Good luck either way.

Hey thanks guys for the reply!! yeh i know i F***K it pretty bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well this was my first time doing this! but oh well ... im geting my freind to trim it up... and yeh i think i mounted the cooler wrong.. because the top bolt where i mount it was on the 2nd hole, i think i need to go up 1 more which is the top bit of the cooler..

I thought so, and this will make your two side mounts work properly as well which will be the cause of your cooler leaning to one side also.

Hey guys, i installed my intercooler today the blitz lm! and i was quite impressed. Anyway just wondering if its ok to have your front bar cut and choped... for the blitz LM where the pipes go back to your factory route...? in melbourne. Here is a pic below.. as im worried a copper will pull me over... its messy and untidy but here we go!

Thanks, Geraus.

Oh wow you didnt need to chop that much LOL oh you poor thing!!!

you only need to chop the inside till the bar isnt touching the pipes!!! I have had a few front bars and i had to mod each one (but my cooler pipes dont go under the cooler like that)

you could have the bit plastic welded back on for the time being!

and go to Super Cheap or Autobarn and by a Coloured Mesh to cover up the imperfections till you get a new Front Bar!!!!!! just dont let the Mesh touch the Pipes!!!

but it is siting quite low, what sized pipes are they????

not sure wot size it is sory :) all i know is it connects back to my factory pipes..

Well man at least you got the better cooler kit now and well done for giving it a go your self!

It wasn't that hard to install hey, pretty straight forward and they line up mint.

Beats the other style that runs past the rocker cover and through a hole in the guard.

How much did this kit set you back if you don't mind me asking? I couldn't find a new one when I bought mine and ended up getting a 2nd hand one from Japan, which is practically perfectly new.

LOL

:P well he did! lol

also want to no were and how much u got this cooler kit, and if they do em for 32's.

who else is running these kits and are they any good???

sorry for hijacking but good try on the cooler...

I'm running one of these, and they are awesome.

Fitment is really good and they seems to not create a lot of lag either.

Piping is neat, and no need to cut any holes so fitment is e a s y .

Hey before doing anything this big do ya research first, i didnt install my cooler till i had done plenty of research and pictures of what it looks like installed ..

But yer good on you for giving it a go.

Maybe paint the bottom pipe matt black, it wouldnt stand out so much and definatly get some mesh.

IF you did have the section you removed just make some brackets up on each side of it and re-attach it ..

The kits are about $1000 delivered from nengun (give or take with the exchange rate, just gota watch the prices) or you can buy one locally from dealers like autobarn but blitz australia expect to retail em for close to $1600 which is a joke so if your interested in one i would go down the import from japan path.

The kits are great. they line up perfectly when the correct mounts are used (which hasn't happened with geraus) so the cooler should actually firstly sit straight but higher by another few centermeters.

There is much debate over its whole turnpipe system being crap for airflow. Now for sure its not ideal, but neither is running an exit pipe (of cooled air) over the top of a hot engine which is what you have to do with all the other kits (except ARC). This completely defeats the purpose of having a better cooler. not to mention you have to remove your washer bottle, cut a nice big whole in your engine bay and trim your radiator fan blades.

and yes they make em for 32's

do a search there are a couple threads in relation to this cooler (such as mine linked in an earlier post) and i can think of at least 2 others that come up with useful info and pictures.

It shouldn't be hanging that low. Your actually meant to use the highest bolt possible underneath the bonnet catch and on a 33 the longer of the two brackets (it comes with a short bracket for 34s)

then the pipe would sit exactly inline with the cross bar of the front bumper that has been hacked off. unseen!

I have the HKS one where the pipes cross over the engine but if done right you dont have to trimm the bladews though, I didnt when i installed mine ..

But i do hate the crossover pipe on mine though .. looks to untidy, i should have done the front facing plenum mod and not used the crossover pipe.

I didnt even think at the time about the underneath cooler one like yours ..

They look like my Old HKS pipes they were 3 1/2 inch (or were they 4????)!!! They look huge!!

Can I just say one thing about spraying the pipe black!!!

just think about that b4 you do it, coz if you want the chrome look once you spray them black its a shit of a job to polish them back!!! and if your going to get a new kit wait till you have that coz the new kit might hide it or show it in a different way and you might find you didn’t need to spray it anyway!

i think the Matt Black look, looks Cheap!!! its a good way of covering up a dull pipe or damaged pipe!!! but each to their own i love the new chrome look personally!

And it does look like it needs to be straightened up are you sure its fitted tight coz they can pop off and it will scare the shit out of you when it does!!!

so you guys are telling me $1000 for 2 or 3 pipes and a cooler???

might just buy a cooler, then p.v.c a jig and get the jig done from stainless..

just never thought about using my factory cooler setup and just run the pipes for a front mount i think its a good idea..

thanks guys and geraus, break these guys balls and ask em questions if ur not sure bout something lol..

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
