Spotted A R35 Gtr In Thailand Of All Places!

Recommended Posts

Here I was hooning on my scooter around Phuket Island with some mates when I glanced a White R35 GTR to the side of the road.

Needless to say I almost got cleaned up by a car when I drifted into the oncoming traffic whilst looking at it. I have to say it looks way better up close than in photos... one horny ride.

Dont know why you would bother owning one there cos you just cant drive it the way it wants to be driven from the traffic and shit roads. Couldnt find the owner but im sure he is the king of Phuket roads with this awesome car!

I want one :teehee:

the owner could possibly be some sort of army general, heard from thai friends that alot of them are very corrupt and very rich.

yeah quite a waste having it in thailand, im not even sure if they have any racetracks which you can take it onto.

Damn, I wouldn't want to be driving that in Thailand!

Endless paranoia about "dings and scrapes" from moto's, cyclo's, tuk tuk's, elephants, and what have you.

The money paid for the car could buy a mansion over there.

Also, can you imagine trying to keep that beautiful white coat clean....

considering HKS has an official R&D branch in Thailand, and Sepang International Circuit (where they have the F1 and JGTC rounds) isn't that far away, in addition to Nakornchaisri that's local, I'd say there's plenty of potential.

Lol, just picturing you scootering around the bends and then sh!tting yourself when you spotted the GTR lol. I'm gonna be clinically dead for about 10 seconds when i see one for the first time :teehee:

Hope it made your holiday (if that's why you're there) even better!

This was on Phuket Island... would be a mission getting it to Sepang in Kuala Lumper... mind you he probably has the dough to throw it on a plane and take it there!

Yeah mate it was a hairy moment ill tell you that... I was going around a corner doing about 80 when i saw it. And it sure did make my day/trip!

gotta admit though there was a couple of good straights and corners out of town where we maxed out the scooters at 105k's... so he could have a little bit of fun :D

actually when i was last in thailand there were a few japanese guys there who were in hiding from the law or yakuza or something like that. might be someone like that who owns one :( don't get too comfy with it... they might chop ya :ninja:

looks like they already stole the nissan badge off the boot:)

looks too clean for the badge to be stolen, maybe he doesnt want to people know that its a nissan and had it removed. it is quite a big badge and kinda stands out a bit too much

    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
    • Perhaps the answer is... more jacks!* *proper jacks must be used.
    • I NEVER think about using a scissor jack unless there is absolutely no other alternative. f**king things are dangerous, annoying and stupid.
    • Yeah I've had too many issues with knock off's on the BMW's. I don't want to do a job twice or more because the parts are shit.
