i have r32 with neo in it

gcg gt3076 turbo

just did last upgrade

sard 650cc injectors

z32 afm

scince then its benn randomly hard to start

some times it stars good some times not

doesnt matter if its hot or cold

if the cars been sitting or just run it seem complety random

it just turns over for it seems like for ever

and then other times it just starts

my tuner seems to think that the one way vlave on the fuel pump may not be functioning properly so he recomends adding a 1 way valve before fuel filter

but its only started doing this after the last mods

i also added a sard fuel reg

but i put the reg on like 2 weeks befor the injectors went in and got tuned

i also originaly had problems with it fowling the irridum plugs up so bad it missed

but he assures the afms are good and i since changed to coppers and have only had 1 fowl up in the last 2 months last week

it seems to fowl the iridums or the coppers but no as bad when the car free weels breaks traction

any idears much appriciated

well there is a wire (in rb20 ecu anyway) which comes off your 'key engine start position' from your ignition. I think on the ECU pinout diagrams floating around its labelled 'Engine Start'.

when you fire it up, the + signal goes from your key barrel to the ecu and basically the ecu knows that your cranking the motor over. I've found leaving this wire unattached causes similar symptoms to what you're describing. i know you said its only been doing it since your recent upgrade, but its worth checking anyways.. just use a multimeter to check for 12v on that wire when your cranking the motor.

i dont run a one-way valve in my setup, i however always let the fuel pump properly prime before cranking the motor.. just to get full pressure in the fuel rail.

next i'd look at possible iignition problems.

yeah i know about this wire it shows as activateing on the power fc but thanks for the reply but then was testing it was starting fine too maybee its a short in the barrell also when this happens it smells very fuel ie also metion sometimes it doesint crank at all thought it was starter giving out

any help appricated

if its only just strated since you installed the z32 and injectors then these are the likely culprits

put the stock AFM and see how it starts, its probably OK - so i would say its the injectors

check your injector latency and correction and check the cold start cranking

also note the water temp when the problem occurs - it might help, as you can use the cold start cranking to correct it

yeah i got the sards so they are quite lazy like 1.5 ms

but the tuner has tuned it so they are on zero adjustment but it starts somtimes fine and not others

i am also having problems with the starter motor now it just clicks sometimes click it on and off a few times then she turns over so maybee its just not cranking fast enough will get the starter sorted then go from there

check the starter motor solenoid connections. another option is to fit a pilot relay with a fused direct switched feed from battery to starter, my car was the same and had to do this, as well as all the old fords i used to own...

    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
