The directions and meeting points wer awful, and we got lost heaps of times, yet somehow stayed on track. The boys in blue wer a worry, and it seemed some people wer singled out, well me and steve saw a silver WRX done by a coppa on a bike. The route wasnt very exciting, and i really didnt even get to fang it thru the roads as i was too concerned about where the next turn off was, or the people in front wer too slow.

However it was awesome to see heap of cars cruising, and everything was very ordily. The cops really didnt even need to be there as we wer so well behaved

NiteCrawler, I saw u friday nite at the meetup point, yet u wer talkin to some people and i was too scared to come up and say hi.

The drift day was good. Too bad about the weather...but you get that.

The show the drifters put on is always good to watch!

Loved the Red R33 smoking it up!

As for the cruise, I dont think you can blame the map. I hung at the very back of the cruise...as with such a large number of cars, the is no doubt going to be some reckless drivers.

Heading into Strath I had to over take the whole line...nearly having a head on with oncoming traffic to lead everyone through the town!

As everyone left the Strath oval...everyone went right, when the map clearly said left.

At the kmart meet up I was quite surprised the see the cops roll around...suss the cars and then leave!

Also, the cops got their hands on the map at Handorf.

Sure a map of Strathalbyn would have been desirable but time and money simply got the better of me. Keep in mind that I don't get paid to do this shit and I don't have hours of spare time up my sleeves either. As it was I was up until 3am the night before organising the maps, and it cost me around $80 in planning/driving/photocopying so that everyone could go out and have an enjoyable night.

As for the meeting points, I had to liaise with the police officer at Handorf in order to get him to move his car from blocking the entrance. But before everyone starts to say it was a silly spot to put so many cars, have a think about why they came and blocked the entrance, and where else you would have fit that many cars in Handorf.

And the slow cars? Well thats hardly our fault. As far as I'm concerned, everyone has the right to come out and enjoy themselves on a cruise as long as they're not being dickheads. Whether they be in an old escort or an R34 GTR shouldn't matter, but they need understand their position in the pecking order and give way to faster cars.. and if they don't, start flashing your lights and beeping at them until they do.

Overall I think it was a good cruise, an excellent turnout, but very difficult to manage. When you guys try organising a cruise for 150+ cars come and let me know how you go.

I agree with all you said dude. I thought it was great. Well done and thanks for all your efforts!

Sure some of us got a bit lost, but if we had actually read the instructions instead of following other lost cars we would have been ok :D

Most of the people we followed turned the wrong way out of the Strath oval... we followed ;)

Ah well, IMO it was all good :D

SpecS15: Well i hope u dont find offence to what i said, becos with that many people it was amazing it was pulled off, and it all went without a hitch, besides the cops which pretty much is always going to happen.

So dont think people arent appreciative becos we are.

HER_1VIA : Its funny that u say everyone went right, becos me and Steve, basically the 2 most clueless people actually went the correct way, and then after 5 mins of waiting on the side of the road, we thought we went the wrong way, only to go back into the town, then do a U turn and go back to where we where. ;) Ahhh good times...

Welll you put 100 plus cars together and see how smart you all are..

You had a map and directions.. Im not having a go.. but there was massive amounts of preparation for this and it only takes one car on the cruise to take one wrong turn and all the sheep follow. I think Ben did fantastically well..

Yeah I agree with the positive commments, top organisation Ben - great cruise.

As others have said, it is impossible to help stupid people who can't read clear maps :D .... all in all it was an awesome effort, but I am sure those of you who have been on small, private SAU cruises before, that these are the only way to go!

Roll on the nice spring weather so we can do a Sunday arvo belt in the hills again with a small group - they beat these large cruises hands down! But you get to see more nice cars on the large cruises .... each to their own I suppose!

thankyou for the BBQ guys :D

Cruise was fun even if we got a little lost (bloody west australians :( ) those hills awwww why dont we have anything like that over here!!

Poor little Runt (gtrkens, well gtr) got a good christening that night .... with the tool in the GTO we fixed him :D

Good to see you all ....... CheekyR32 have to catch up for another pool game when your in perth haha :)

Good to see a few of you .... thanks again for your hospitality!

    • The trouble with phone apps is that they really do not know the sensitivity of the mic on each specific phone, whether there is some sort of cover or skin that can change that, etc etc. So the readings off them are not calibrated. You certainly couldn't be sure that you were even within 3 dB. I have the same app on two (actually more than that) different phones/tablets and the readings in the same room at the same time are never the same. I don't mind the apps - they are as useful as a dyno - if you're testing for delta from thing1 to thing2. But not to try to generate some sort of absolute value.
    • I'm gonna use the "Sound Meter" app from the Google Play Store and as close as I can bother to these procedures: 4. TEST METHOD FOR ALL VEHICLES EXCEPT PRE ADR83 IN-SERVICE GOODS VEHICLES AND OMNIBUSES 4.1 Microphone position 4.1.1 The microphone shall be directed towards the orifice of the exhaust outlet and shall be supported by a tripod or similar device not providing excessive acoustic reflection. The general requirements for positioning microphones are shown in the Appendix. 4.1.2 The nominal axis of maximum sensitivity of the microphone shall be substantially parallel to the test site surface and shall make an angle of 45 degrees ±10 degrees with the principal direction of gas flow from the exhaust. 4.1.3 In selecting the 45 degree alignment from the outlet of a motor vehicle fitted with two or more outlets, only the angle resulting in the microphone being farthest from any other outlet must be used. National Stationary Exhaust Noise Test Procedures for In-Service Motor Vehicles Page 3 4.1.4 The height of the microphone above the test site surface shall be equal to that of the orifice of the exhaust outlet ±25mm but shall not be less than 200mm above the test site surface. 4.1.5 The distance of the microphone from the exhaust outlet orifice shall be 500mm±25mm. 4.1.6 [Relates to vertical exhaust outlets] 4.1.7 For vehicles fitted with one exhaust outlet the microphone shall be placed so that the greatest possible distance is achieved between it and the vehicle. 4.1.8 [Relates to multi exhaust outlets] 4.1.9 [Relates to multi exhaust outlets] TLDR: 200mm off ground 45 degree angle relative to exhaust flow 500mm from tailpipe exit. (I probably won't use a tripod) Here's a photo, cause I read the instructions wrong myself.
    • No ABS, no TCS, no airbags, no cruise control, no lane departure assist, no emergency brake assist, no orange lights in the mirrors (continuously annoying me in multi-lane traffic), no stupid rear view camera. I am the one responsible for where my car goes and how it does it.
