im going to try a different fuel i think

ive just filled up with Mobil Synergy 8000 or whatever it is, we will see how that goes

also, cos its been so hot lately, ive been using my A/C heaps

im going to see if out of a tank i dont use it at all and see what difference that makes

"Yah bro!" :)

Its mm of mercury...

Trust

Me

I have a HKS Boost Gauge

The pointer goes only up to where I have circled, which I believe is +0.7 Bar = 10.1 Psi.

Just help me clarify this cuz Iam interested to know...

Thanks!

Also, don't bother saying how many KMs you get to a tank. The best way to work it out is:

1. Fill up to a full tank

2. Reset trip meter

3. Drive

4. Fill up, note how many litres it takes

5. Do this calc: Litres divided by KMs ... then times that figure by 100 = Litres per 100 KMs

The reason this is a better comparison is that one mans "empty" is different to another persons. For example, I normally get 320kms out of a tank... but I never take mine to RIGHT on the E mark, and I put 42-46L in it.... so around 13 - 14 L per 100kms, which is around normal for a mildly modified GTR IMO.

yeah thats why i said removing the restrictor makes you run 14.7 psi

not saying that is a good idea

what im saying is that the gauge is in mmHG not bar

7 mmHg = 1 bar

May i ask, where is the restrictor that you remove to get full boost?

  • 1 year later...

my 32gtr is pullin 400km's for full tank. all i had done was injectors cleaned, changed air filters, o2's,

i give it a fair bit of push around suburbs.

but yer my injector is now leaking out fuel i assume this time round i wont be gettin 400k's.. what is it i need to replace .. O-rings for it? and is it hard to replace?

i just got a power fc installed + car tuned.

driving sensibly im now getting around 420 to a full tank round town.

i've been giving it a hard time this tank and it looks like it will hopefully still be around the 320 - 350 mark.

car is almost stock - 222rwkw @ 12 psi.

hope this helps.

also, check your comp - is it standard? my old cpu was the main cause of my previous poor economy (around 300 to a full tank barely hitting boost).

    • How dare you sell your unreliable Skyline and buy a reliable, Toyota/Yamaha car with a strong gearbox, torsen LSD and Toyota reliability. At least you won't need to worry about oil pumps, big catch can, oil restrictors, blowing off power steering belts, sheering off 3rd gear, failing ABS relays/pumps, etc.
    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
