any help would be greatful

Just trying to narrow down a problem im having.

Cheers

Digging up this old thread

Can anyone clarify how the steering angle sensor works and if I can connect this to an s2 wheel somehow? Basically my s1 (airbag) wheel is completely stuffed, but I have a mint s2 wheel already (the one with the clear plastic shield behind the wheel). I'm not worried about the airbag not working I'll just remove the bulb or whatever, but I just need a decent stock looking wheel to get through a roadworthy and then I'll probably go to an aftermarket wheel anyway. So is there any way I can keep the hicas working with the s2 wheel?

cheers.

Ok, I fixed my horn yesterday in my S1 GTR, it has an S2 steering wheel, so no dice on the airbag, but!

As for the horn, there should be 4 wires going to the steering wheel, the green wire should be the horn active, you can check this with a multimeter/test lamp, test from the chassis to the green wire and you should have 12V there, then while still connected to chassis and the green wire (either with clamps, or a mate) pull the horn fuse in the engine bay, this should take away the 12V, confirming that it's the right circuit.

After that you can re -insert the fuse and connect the green wire to the single wire attached to the horn mechanism, this should pull in the horn relay (in engine bay) and sound the horn.

I hope this helps as I trolled the 3 threads about this on SAU and various others without answers. The methodology for find the wire is solid, so if the wire colours differ, testing them to ground and removing the horn fuse should determine which one is correct.

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
