My 33 (98 RB25DEt, 50,000km), when starting from stone cold, like not driving for 8+ hours,

start her up, idling from stone cold, after a little lean on the throttle, as in reversing out of the garage, or whatever slow driving doesnt require any revs, when the revs pass 1500rpm on their way back down to idle, i get a similar "tapping" noise, but its only ever at that RPM, and goes away when the temp needle start to go up.

Would this be oil too thick? Ive been using Magnatec 10w 40 for a long [edit] on previous cars, street, and hard track[/edit] time and never had problems with it, so figured it was a safe bet to stay with it.

Do you think i should try a 5w40 or 5w30?
