hey,

everything is pretty much sorted. cooler piping, tailshaft, gearbox mount, bonnet shutting, rad, etc.

But am just a little unsure on a couple of pretty simple things.

1. have had the plenum refaced, with the throttle body at the front now. However throttle cable doesn't reach. Can it be extended, or do i have to get say a bigger Vl, r32, r33, or other cable.

2. Am not running a bov, so can i just get the rubber hoses which go the bov blocked off at the plenum. The black metal piping which leads to the bov on the turbo side have been taken care of.

3. With the new cooler piping there no place to plug in the vacume line for the wastegate. Can i just extend the line and get the reading off any part of the plenum, or is getting it off the cooler piping on the turbo side essential.

4. for the boost gauge reading, does that just get it off the plenum also.

5. for the vacume lines which go to the throttle body, now that at its at the front, is just getting a bigger line ok, will it effect the throttle body opening, and operating the way it should.

6. whats the best way to drain the fuel tank?

any help much appreciated. i will post some pics as soon as i can get a hold of a digi camera.

thanks again

jsut puta nipple in the cooler pipingand run the line from there

you might need a custom throttle cable

ps I want a ride when its done

boost gauge jsut off the plenum

also run into another problem.

power steering setup. The silvia has some some speed sensative unit. and theres 4 lines coming off that, yet theres only 2 spots on the rack.

And putting in new lines mite not be viable cost wise at this stage.

Just wonderding whether i could take out the power steering lines, pump, put fluid in the power steering rack, so it doesn't run dry, and block off the outlets and inlets, so no fluid can go in or out.

only worry would be whether the rack will suffer, or turning will be come impossible.

Anyone know what the go is.

Is it safe to do? or should i run new lines, but then if i bypass the speed sensative unit, it could cause problems up at high speeds, pretty tight for room with this one. and i got lines going everywhere.

thoughts on this please.

oh and i got the tank drained, hooked up old fuel pump ran it off a battery and pumped the old fuel out through some hose. worked well.

GTiR throttle cable fits on R33 with front facing plenum. I have been told you can get the stock cable modified as well.

Two spots on the steering rack? why not use an R33 steering pump? I think the R32 have like a dual pump with two lines for the rear hicas, and two for the front steering. If your pump has 4 outlets, do 2 of them run from a seperate resevoir? Sorry I dont have much of an idea what is exactly wrong with the power steer - but interested to hear what the problem/solution and outcome are?

Cheers

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
