Hey Guys,

Just then i went on my break and went and put some fuel in my car it was running on E so i went to the petrol station and then filled up with BP Ultimate

Car was boosting and driving fine before i put the petrol in. I drove back to work car started coughing and spluttering and then just conked out and stalled and now i cant start the car at all.

If i leave it for 5 minutes and start it, it kicks over then stalls. I need help as i need to get home from work!

Anyone who can help me out would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Trent

sounds to me like you may have picked up a shit batch of fuel.It may have clogged your filter or even have stuffed the pump itself. I had a similar problem a few years ago with a VN that I had. Pulled the tank out and emptied it.So much water mixed in with the fuel.Other things too like grass, cigarette butts etc..

I agree, definitely sounds like a clogged filter. When you run your tank empty it brings up all the sediment and gunk from the bottom and stuffs the filter pretty quick.

Sorry i don't any quick fixes. Get it to a mechanic.

Good luck mate.

my 2c is that you let it run too low... the new fuel has stirred up the 15 years of shit in the bottom of your tank and then you boosted it str8 away and have now put all that mixed up shit in your fuel system... change the fuel filter drive off boost...

problem still there... see a mechanic or remove/empty your tank

If it is a clogged filter its an easy fix.

1. Change fuel filter.

2. Throw some Wynns fuel system cleaner in your tank.

3. Disconnect spark, turn car over a few times to get fuel in the system.

5. Reconnect spark, and away you go.

If you cant hear the pump though its probably stuffed, what sort of pump is it ho old?

If its the standard one, you should get a fresh one anyway.

problem solving time. ok.

1. possible bad fuel. but if so u shouldnt have gotten out of the bp driveway before stalling

2. blocked filter...possible. however the fuel pump has a filter sock that should filter out the larger debris.. so replace that.

3. might be a stretch...but check the fuses. especially the fuel pump fuse. u said it wasnt priming. so it is either broken...or has a broken circuit..

then run some injector cleaner thru

Pump is a GTR item, Issue is it was running sweet before this started then fuel was in then BAM and the issue starts..

Looks like car will stay here overnite then i'll have to coem back tommorrow with some tools and shit :D

I got NFI on cause, but would just try the remedys ppl suggested above.

Something interesting though i think, is that only a few weeks ago, i manually scooped 1/4 tank of fuel outa my "89 GTR. After a lot of looking around, rubbing etc... the tank was spotless, none of the shite ppl tank about.

Have a S14 mate who swears all Silvia's get so much gunk in the tank... not my older Skyline... i figure mines been flushed at some stage? hrrm..

*keeps on rolling*

for gods sake people... the fuel pump pick up is at the bottom of the tank... regardless of if you run a full tank or on the fuel light, the pick up is still collecting the same quality of fuel. Not to mention the filter sock on the pump is so fine it would bearly pick anything up to clock tjhe fuel pump instantly... that sort of stuff takes years to accumilate shit into a filter

Thankyou.....

About to say the same thing.. I run my tank empty often with no problems... Changed the fuel filter on Monday (after 40000km's since compliance) and it was very clean....... BP Ultimate FTW

Yeah thanks to all who helped out.

Pulled out the tank at work in bollocksen boiling hot heat found out ti came outta its cradle and had detatched itself form the power. Fun!

Then the O Ring streached out so much that i had to cut it to fit it back in lol

Anyway its fixed now, all ig tota do now is fix my exhaust leak sound like a bollocksen rexy..

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
