Dunno how the T04Z goes yet. Last time of drove my car it have R34 GTR turbo's.

Planning to run 1.8 to 2 bar boost.

Yeah the Hypertune plenum and single throttle body is becoming a favourite for drag racers. I'm planning on doing abit but nothing serious.

Mad! Looks like your going for full top end performance.

 English ninja :P

Hah! I fixed the sentence now.

looks awesome mate, im running same turbo and jun 2.7L kit, engine has made 585rwhp on 18psi on a very low reading dyno (reads 40hp less than another brand new dyno dynamics shootout one i have gone on) but its currently running 560hp (18psi also) at wheels with a very rich safe tune for the moment, plenty left in it, i can see yours definately going a touch over 650rwhp with the 0.81 depending on the dyno and more with the bigger housing. I have similiar mods except the hypertune plenum, but im getting one very very soon, be good to see how much of a difference the plenum makes.

whos doing the tune work in Perth?

  • 3 weeks later...

Engine is tuned to 4000 rpm while i run in the engine. Once i get a 1000 kms up will be in for more tuning. Hopefully next week sometime, depends on work.

Making around 10 psi at 4000rpm with no cam tuning so kinda looking promising. Off boost drivablity "feels" improved over the old set up and although this turbo is a later coming on boost compared to the stock turbed RB26 (380whp) i was running, the torque curves overlayed are almost identical to 4000rpm.

The damn thing is loud and sounds pretty cranky too.

I purchased the complete HKS T04Z kit through Greenline, awesome gear, highly recommend it on looks alone.

Welldone m8. I had my car dynoed yestserday made 327kw on 14psi then made 378kw on 16psi & then on 22psi made 401kw but the old 700cc injectors are maxed out so 1000s it is. should make a lot more hopefully the torque is quite strong so using all the fuel but torque is good. Put the 1000s in & race fuel plus 32psi & look out hopefully crack 500kw. Anyways Enemy have a good1 like to compare dyno sheets when ya have them since these setups are pretty identical.

yeap so far so good.

quite surprised to see over 400 kms out of a tank of fuel with it running quite rich, 880cc injectors, big cams and no closed loop. Needs more power thou, hehe.

nice work Blitzxtr, get a dyno sheet up for us to have a look at if you don't mind. Have been keen to see how your build has gone.

Unique1, cheers mate. All the best with your's as well. I'll have my fingers crossed for your bottom end lol.

SLY33, idle is a bit high at the moment but it does sound mean. I dread ever having to pull up along side a highway patrol vehicle. Certainly wouldn't use cams bigger than 272/11 for a street driven vehicle, even these are probably a little to big.

f**k im currently in the process of putting my tomei stroker kit into a n1 block and the cams im using a 280's with 11.8lift. and yeh its street driven hahahaha this really is gonna be interesting

some more tuning has been done and the rev limit increased to 8000.

Making 544 hp with 17psi and 16 degrees of timing.

should get interesting with more boost and a play with the cam timing.

nice work, looks very similiar to mine on similiar boost :) is 8000rpm the limit of the 2.8L kit or is this just a safe limit for the moment? is this on the 1.0 ex housing? fullboost at a fraction under 5000rpm looks like it, mine is making 18psi by 4300rpm i think from memory.

Thanks John.

Unquie1,

8000 is a safe limit for the moment. Not sure what Tomei rate there stroker kits for but i doubt i'll go past 8500 anyway.

It is a little slow getting the boost up and you make a good point about the ex housing. When the turb came back from ceramic coating the 1.00 was fitted. It was supposed to have been changed to the 0.81 before going on the engine. I will have to check that when i get back to Perth. Only got to drive it a couple of times before i got shipped out bush again :D

What cams are you using Brad?

Pretty happy so far. the old motor with 380 at the wheels was the most powerful car i'd ever been in. Now with 540 it certainly brings a smile to face. The noise that comes out of it is insane lol.

cheers

Paul

    • Hello, sorry for being late to join the discussion, but my clock just died on me.   Ive tried to look at Michaels digital clock repair.docx and it doesnt work maybe the file has expired.   Please let me know if you can re upload it or take some youtube videos to show us how to get the clock installed? thanks
    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
    • My return flow is custom and puts the return behind the reo, instead of at the bottom. All my core is in the air flow, rather than losing some of it up behind the reo. I realise that the core really acts more as a spiky heatsink than as a constant rate heat exchanger, and that therefore size is important.... but mine fits everything I needed and wanted without having to cut anything, and that's worth something too. And there won't be a hot patch of core up behind the reo after every hit, releasing heat back into the intake air.
