hey ive been looking to get a skyline for a while now and since im off my probabtion at work i can go and buy one. i found a blue 2000 model r34 yesterday that had done 93k and had just been imported. it is $27000 for it drive away. is that worth it? to me 93k is alot

what would be a good place to get a nice skyline r34 from? i talked to imports101 but some of my friends are telling me not to be so trusting of import companies coz the car the get might break.

Import companies are ok, but only go to the well known ones. Imports101, Autoworx, Prestige Motorsport, J-Spec Imports to name a few.

For a stock standard R34, thats sounding a little pricey to me. I'm currently looking at importing an R34 myself, and don't want to pay more than $22k. This is not unreasonable either. At some places you will pay a bit more bacause you get a warrenty with the car. For instance, autoworx give a warrenty with the cars they sell. I'd say, do your homework and find out everything before you go rushing in. Also take you time if you're going to import. Look out for key words like 'auction grade'. I won't get a car unless it is at least auction grade 4. This means that it is in pretine condition.

Hope this helps

Those km's aren't high, it is an 8 year old car after all and blue r34's (i'm assuming it's a 2dr manual?) are pretty rare in WA so that's a good price for a head turner.

lol @ 22k for an R34... sure you can import one yourself for cheaper but I think 22k is pushing the absolute limits. Not to mention there's all the extra hassle of having to wait months on end, getting it complied, not really knowing if there's something wrong with it, etc.

$22K is very doable for a 34, just don't expect to find anything but auto's for that price... but the Aussie dollar is getting stronger against the Yen, and the 34 is getting on these days, therefore they get cheaper with time... so anything is possible

As for mileage, most car yards consider 10-20K a year to be 'average', so an 8 year old with 93K is quite good/under average km, but condition of car is always the best indication anyway.

All the import companies listed above by R33-GTS are well established and reputable, with my own 32 GTR being imported thru Imports 101, who outlined the whole process for me so I wasn't in the dark.

Good luck,

34s are dropping a lot recently

if your not set on bay side blue which will mean a later model (i believe 00 ) and reasonable km (80-90) you could land and comply one for 22k

its possible to get 34s with much less km but costs will go up

as far as importing all I can suggest is to go with someone who actually gets each car individually inspected . Auction grade varies greatly and cant be trusted 100%.

km's arn't bad i got mine 2 years ago

bayside blue 34 had 82k on the clock and 2dr coupe n manual n also 2000 model

cept i paid 30k for mine car was already in aus at a dealership

but no regrets glad i made ma choice=)

gdluck

btw the car was like stock standard

dont the japs like to trim a few ks off the clock on the way over?

so mabye this is genuine

People always talk of trimming a few k's off.. but if you've been to Japan and see what driving it like over there, it's completely understandable that a car can do under 10,000k's each year.

I'm not saying it hasn't been done before, just that it's not unlikely to find a car (especially a skyline) in Japan that has done very few k's.

27 is over priced in my opinion i think you should shop around more i looked ast R34s last year before i ended up buying my s15 and there were alot of nice ones with less k's for around the 24thous mark

go buy the autotrader theres always a few in there or if you choose to import go through prestige motorsport i used them for my first skyline jeff is really helpfull just be prepared to wait as it take a fair few months for shipping compliancing etc.

holy crap dude, do you drive your car around australia or something?

hahaha yeah, well i gt same model, year and car except gt min wit 96,000 and a similar price! mint condition too, any1 know any skyline dat has done a huge mileage like above without a rebuild jus frequent good maintenance??? jus wonderin.....

    • Just wanted to pop in an update on my setup. The CD swap has been great, I love the mazworks housing for the overall simplicity. I ended up sealing my trans tunnel with a thin sheet of aluminum reused some of the holes on the trans tunnel, and laid some window sealing EPS foam around the edges. Works great, really quieted things down and sealed up the car.  As for the power comment. Right now I am also running about 650whp. with the way the bell housing is attached to the face of the transmission I have zero doubts it would be fine, mainly because the input shaft and main shaft bearings are seated into the bell housing adapter. This means the load is NOT on the bolts to maintain the power, rather into he casing of the bell housing; Yes the bolts are doing some work there, but with both shafts locked in zero worries.  End of the day, the Mazworks solution is the easiest and safest. no need to take your trans to a shop to get milled perfectly, it fits with minimal clearancing, and you can use all your existing clutch and flywheel.  Driving wise the CD has been great compared to the big box, I'll probably swap my final drive at some point. The serial 9 shifter is gooooood, my only qualm is how tight it is, it takes a fair bit to get use to, 5th and 6th are a bit eh/hard to find at times, but maybe I need re-adjusting, and I think my clutch master is very tired and needs a rebuild.
    • If you are keen, have a look at my build thread. Car is for sale for the right money or straight swap for a F80 M3 LCI.
    • Welcome mate.  No point in over thinking it, buying any one of those cars you mentioned is not a smart or logical choice with the availability of many "better" (re price to performance) cars available to you.  The heart wants what the heart wants, buy whatever it leads you too.
    • Hey everyone! Im so grateful to be apart of this community and ill do my best to be apart of this. Firstly, i'm not disclosing my real name due to in real life circumstances surrounding my privacy and public image (sorry lol) Secondly, The only thing personal I am willing to share is that I'm from Sydney and a descendant of one of Sydneys largest mortgage firms. I got gifted my first ever car, a 2022 Porsche Cayenne and I love it to death. Ive been driving it for about 5 or 6 months now and honestly Im so grateful for my parents for gifting me this vehicle. However recently I've been working my ass off to afford my second car (which I need help deciding soooooo community help me out please?). Once decided, im planning to try modify it myself. Recent I've been thinking about getting a Skyline, particularly a 25GT or GT-V, yes I know overrated as hell, but I'm also considering a Chaser which I recently came to love. However my dream is to one day own a 180SX (So hard to find clean versions and im not really into importing).  Lastly before I send this off, I want to apologize if I sound tacky or pretentious. I try not to and want to genuinely learn from everyone and anyone. (Im no expert in this area) Thanks for reading!
