room will be the problem on that one. glovebox is VERY doable OR centre arm rest OR if you want to remake the rear seat centre section it would fit there. in dash - not easily.

as for quality same as the 8000.

garmin is RF based. no IR beam. the tv is IR. as for IR placement for the DVD unit - your call where it is placed. I have been putting them INSIDE the AC display to hide them - some are too big to do this though. any of the IPOD ones I do that is where they are. (oaksey if you are reading this that is where yours is.)

I see, I thought garmin was IR based too.

Is it possible to splice the TV's IR input wire so the same IR sensor would provide input for two devices? as long as the IR codes between the two device doesn't overlap each other...?

Alternatively, maybe you know of an in-car DVD player with an RF remote, that way it can be tucked away in the boot (something that takes like 6-10 dvds stacker), close the the pure tv's 2nd AV input.

nope separate sensors. I have a trick that I can use that WILL combine them but it involves another unit.

know of a 10 disc dvd unit but I'll have to see if it is still available.

Can you find out Chris, if the 10 stacker is a standalone (do not need a matching headunit) then I'd be interested. Is the remote RF? if so that will be a lot easier than trying to route another IR sensor to the front. pm me price to VIC delivered. I'll sort out installation here. cheers.

Under the seat had the air-con vent thing, and it seems a little cramped under there. Was afraid it might get in the way if seat was moved back and forth. Plus people with dirty feet will kick it all the time.

I secured it with velco strips so I could move it anywhere if i don't like the position right now.

Forgot to thank you Chris for all the advice you've given me. You're a gem for V35 owners! :P

Ok guys one quick question regarding the head units being used.

In order to get the right input to the monitor (i.e. NTCS signal) are you using a US dvd player or some headunit that has NTSC out capability available here in Aus? Ive noticed a couple of said units available through Nesavision but they dont really do it for me and look a little boring. My thought was to look at getting hold of a headunit from the US and hooking that up. Would there be any problems with doing this?

From what i can see radio band frequencies are all similiar and the only difference would be the regionality of the DVD i guess?

unit needs to support local radio and local DVD regions. the USA versions do not. I get 2-3 questions a week on this and then 1-2 I should have listened replies.

dont really know what looks have to do with it. the unit is usually under a closed panel anyway.

Thanks for that, sorry to cover old ground but now i know for sure!

I bought this unit from the US.

-Bluetooth Handsfree

-DVD - I've only put in a burnt DVD so far and it works. Divx works too.

-MP3

-Radio - ALL aus channels

-USB + SD Card Slot

-NTSC TV Tuner - doesnt pick up Aussie channels

I'm one of the guys that gave chris one of the "should have listened replies" cos I complained to him that the TV Tuner didn't work. I really wanted the TV. Thinking about getting the Nesavision one just for that.. But I'll stick with this one for now. Only cost me $AUD 150 shipped.

Hi guys,

I wanted to know where are the AV inputs in the car located, is there one on the back of the BOSE unit (i have the premium pack, no camera).

What i am going to do is just run the AV leads to my mobile phone so i can plug it into the system.

I have the Nokia N95 8gb, i think it a good solution for my self without any extra cost. So far I have 350 songs, FM Radio, some movies and GPS on the phone so it coveres what i need.

So where is the best location to connect the phone?

Thanks Chris,

The AV lead, can i purchase that in Sydney?, or is it something you have custom made yourself?, if so can you please PM a price including delivery to Sydney.

Im not sure what you mean when you say "rear deck - drv side"??

tv tuner location is what I meant- under rear parcel shelf drivers side. av lead is a special thing i import from overeseas. makes audio into these cars plug and play.

I found a 6 stacker quite a reasonable price: http://www.brashimports.com.au/DV680.htm

The install instruction is easy to follow so I wonder if I can tap to the existing DTV tuner power source as they'll be adjacent to each other in the boot?

but i'm not quite sure how to differentiate:

a) power ground

b) chassis ground

also what to do with the parking brake lead where can this connect to?

    • Yeah man, absolutely. You can try pushing me all the way in swapping the R34 for an E9x M3
    • It's almost certainly going to be some amount of pads compound transfer onto the rotors. It will probably go away after you've run them for a bit. If not, pull it all out, lightly sand the rotors, scuff the pads, and rebed.
    • no one recommending speedtek gearsets?   i'm in the same boat as Cosline but rwd, I am holding boost back in third to 600nm at the hubs to save the gear as i make nearly 750nm at the hubs on a mainline
