hey guys,

im about to buy an r32 gtst from a mate at work. it has numerous modifications, FMIC,

turbo, exhaust, blah blah, and about 190k on the clock.

its in perfect nick except for a ping in the number 6 cylinder at highish revs.

he's replaced the plugs, coils, igniter pack, checked the Crank Angle Sensor, installed an aftermarket fuel pump and a set of flow tested injectors.

and still number 6 is detonating... does anyone have any ideas?

my mates just gotten tired of the car and splashed out on a mini cooper s, so he's basicaly giving it away for 6k. it all sounds like a bargain except for the detonation issue. any help would be appreciated.

cheers, Rowdy. :P

Hey man..

I had my engine ping on nuber six as well.. ended up with a melted piston....

Does the car have an oil catch can???

My turbo was on its way out.. blew oil through the cooler into the engine, causing detonation... got way too hot.. and went bang..

Thats usually a good place to start, and also the injectors could be dirty....

Just a place to start..

Sorry cant be more help..

yeah its got a catch can but the breathers fallen off lol. how come it was only pinging on number 6 though, if it was being blown through the cooler shouldnt it have affected all of the cylinders?

Thanks mate, any help is good help at this stage!

cheers, Rowdy.
