Finally found some time to put my brakes on. Big thanks to Scotty for fabricating the spacers - they worked a treat Removed the restrictor as directed, but the line wouldn't fit oddly.. so still h

Hello,

Dont want to sound ignorant, but what size are the size of the rotors on the M35 Stagea, looking to upgrade the brakes.

Are they the same as the V35 Skylines.

If you know can you please post up all specs.

I do not know the size of the rotor but they are the same as the V35. The part numbers are the same. The brake pads are also the same as the V35/G35. (confirmed this with Ben).

I am looking at getting some Hawk brake pads from the US for front and rear. Just waiting to confirm the cost of rear pads.

Ok that should make it easier then, I was looking at these from A & B Motor sports, who are conveniently located in Brookvale.

I like the looks of the 6 & 8 Pot Brakes. The brakes on the M35 Stagea are less than desirable, I reckon some 8 pots would help a bit.....LOL

I noticed they only listed the G35 from 2006 on. Lets hope it still works.

We will have to meet up some time. I will be working in Cromer from May.

Hello,

I just spoke to them and he told me he noticed a huge difference with his R33 Skyline with their brakes. He suggested 8 Pots for the front and 6's for the rear. They are designed to run off the stock OEM master cylinder. Prices were

$2,200.00 for front 8 Pots - 330mm rotors

$2,300.00 for rear 6 pots - 330mm rotors

Excludes fitting, they could fit them for about $200'ish if purchased directly through them.

Below is the part numbers on the actual pad for the M35 Stagea VQ25DET and the various non Brembo brakes on the V35 Skyline, their is a bit of a difference on sum.

M35 Stagea

Part no. on actual front pads: NISSAN HITACHI HP63H FF

Part no. on actual rear pads: NISSAN AK AP66 FF

Part no. on actual rear pads: NISSAN AK AP55 FF

V35 Skyline

Part no. on actual front pads: HITACHI HP66H GG

Part no. on actual front pads: HITACHI HP63H FF

Part no. on actual front pads: TEXTAR T4146 FF 41 (Replacement Part No. 41060-AM892)

Part no. on actual rear pads: AK-FF AP63H

Part no. on actual rear pads: AK-FF AP55

Part no. on actual rear pads: AK-FF AP61H (Replacement Part No. 44060-AM485)

Wish I could help you. Maybe ring Ben or Tony at Northshore Prestige in Sydney. Cannot see why they wouldn't though.

OK. Today I thought I would go through our old R32 GTR bit's to see what fit's and what doesn't. So here's what I came up with. Found an old set of front R32 GTR 4 Spot calipers measured them up and they fit. Small issue with some spacers to be made up(cost about $15 for the spacers) but everything else will fit perfectly. So if you want a cheap upgrade get you hands on a set of front R32 GTR calipers and you done.

The front Brembos off 350Z, V35 Skylines will fit without any mods at all. I trial fitted them when I took off my Brembos from the Zed.

The rears im not sure 100% but my guess is that it's possible.

For a good used complete set of Brembos, you're looking at about $2500-2800 including calipers, rotors and pads. Im considering upgrading the brakes next.

Fitted up the R32 GTR callipers tonight. Pretty easy job....you will however need to cut and linnish the bolt going into the caliper from the brake line.

The other thing you will need is rotor's that have a minimum thickness of 30mm(M35's are 24mm).....hopefully sorting some R32 GTR rotors tomorrow.

P.S. I will post up step by step once I have everything 100% finished....looking like a very cheap option still.

R32 GTR Brake setup done.

Parts needed:

*R32 Rotors

*Pads

*1 LT of brake fluid

*4 Spaced washers to go around the outside of the bolts going through the suspension arm and bolting to the caliper

Parts needed to be modified

* Remove or cut off the dust guard on the inside of the rotor.(if you have a nibbler this is a fairly quick job to cut off)

* Take about 1mm off the brake line bolt going into the caliper...or buy a new shorter one.

All up cost for everything was:

*$280 for the calipers to get rebuilt(or whatever your cost is for new ones)

*$80 for the Pad's

*$300 for brand new rotors

*$20 for Brake fluid

*$45 for Spacer washers to be made

*About 2 hours worth of your time

P.S. The only thing I have not yet tested is that the standard wheel and space saver fits...will let you know soon.

I guess the important question is, how does it feel and perform......compared to stock...

If I was to compare them with the new Nismo pads I had just put in the standard calipers its a definite improvement....lots more feel through the brake peddle.....mind you I have not had a good stand on them yet.

      Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.

      Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys

      Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?

      My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.

      There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
