I'm not saying he doesn't know his thing. I'm just questioning him a bit more than most people would I guess.

How else do we learn if we don't question and challenge things.

I'd be more than happy to meet him and discuss this over a few beers.

In the meantime, I'm just looking for something on paper. I do find this an interesting topic ... lots of variables!

Well endorsements don't get much bette than that do they?

I'm serious about the beers Gary. If I'm ever in town or you're here PM me in all seriousness.

:)

Beers have little appeal, Jack Daniels is OK though. When do I next get to Adelaide....Clipsal is run for this year, maybe the F3 round at Mallalla in May, if I am feeling masochistic.

Most guys find that on SAU that there is an almost unlimited amount of knowledge on Skylines, they just need to learn how to use the Advanced Search function properly. Give it a go, in the interim this is not a bad read;

Be carefull, a lot of the literature was released for the R32GTR and the Stagea ATTESA is more R33GTR (later generation).

Cheers

Gary

Reuben I udnerstand what you are saying, and there are a lot of people who don't know what they are talking about on the internet.

However one of the great things about SAU is there are some people who really know what they are talking about as well.

Gary is a suspension engineer who has been working on the NSW and national championship winning production and improved production race cars. I'm sure he has done a heap of work on testing exactly how the transfer case works. But understand that if he is paid for that testing he can't share specifics openly on the internet.

You won't find anything offical about how ATTESSA works other than what is in the 32 GTR service manual (unless you can read japanese, that is the only one in english). And there are plenty of unofficial opions on the internet if you want those, written down or not.

There is no doubt you need very closely sized tyres front and rear to keep the system happy. And since most stageas dont have a torque split gauge it is hard to tell when it is malfunctioning apart from a surging feeling.

Well now that I'm aware of Gary's portfolio, I'll take him more seriously ... but i still like to question and challenge topics. No harm in it. This is a forum afterall and forums have a reputation of being full of rubbish. Thats not discrediting Gary in any way ... I'm only emphasising that I like things on paper or I'll question it thoroughly.

Gary, thanks for the link. I found a few other sources on the topic, I'll have a read and link them too if they're useful.

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
