I'm the painter, I taught myself to spray in the too low for my head garage you see in the vid. As you can see I need a lot more practice before I can call myself competent, check the gap between the passenger door and front guard. My panel beating skill are worse than my painting skills.

It's a solid colour, renault rouge and was the closest I could get to hemi burnt orange (american colour). One day when I can afford it it'll get a showroom paint job.

Cool project, love the fact that you went with the 318 great little underrated engine. I've seen a few make incredible numbers when boost is applied. I have a stock 360 crank lying around out of a stroker engine I had built for my VF coupe that I'd love to use in a low buck 318 stroker.

Its funny how people automatically think that a V8 will make the car unbalanced when all it really takes is a bit of planning ahead. If its good enough for Carol Shelby its good enough for the rest of us.

Let me know if you want to get rid of the crank, I'm thinking of getting some j port heads and building a budget stroker for the 2010 skyline nationals ( I don't want to arrive with the engine I have in it now ).

I have to build a new engine before I can show up as I'll be damned if I'm going to go there and have rb25det's hand it to me all day long. I'll need about 250kw's at the wheels to avoid the why did you put a v8 in it questions I reckon.

I'm going to regret saying this but at the moment I'm hanging onto the crank. (like every other parts hoarder) I also have a set of stock 360 heads and given 318 blocks are still relatively cheap I'm thinking this combo would be nice in my hilux sometime down the track.

The J's would go well, I've got J heads ported by JHH sitting on top of the 408 in my Coupe.

Have you considered boost with the 318?

That's ok I'm a hoarder too.

I can't go any boost unless I go to the 273 block which I'm not keen to do. The 318 N/A is the biggest small block you can fit "legally" and get registered in NSW with the c110. Once it's stroked properly it'll end up about 390cuin and have approx 300kw at the wheels and be a lazy low revving v8. I want it to be reliable so it won't see above 5500 rpm much. If I boosted it with say this http://www.paxtonauto.com/product.php?id=127 it would have too much power and would just spin the wheels too much. You can't floor it off the mark now with the old tired 318 so I don't want to go too far overboard . . . . . . . it's a little late to say that isn't it

      Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.

      Well the articals keep saying a Q50s (Skyline in Japan) with a new Manual gearbox. I like the talk about the new looks with the round tail lights. I hope they bring back the retro look like they did with the Z
