Hi all, very good read.

I also have a 2 door R34 and have so far purchased clear side indicators and will be looking to buy clear front indicators...

So far, if you dont want to wait for nengun, either Kudos or Slide seem to be doing fron indicators cheaper than JustJap.

Hope this helps.

Anyone organising a group buy? I would like to order a set of Clear Nismo Fronts.

Thanks

P.S. Clear on black isnt rice :D Yum Yum

Looks like my package arrived from Japan .. missed the courier though  so I'll have to wait until monday arvo to pick it up. Does anyone know how to change the front and side indicators on an R34?? For some reason I assumed it'd be a simple process but having had a look at the indicators on the car, I wouldn't have the slightest clue where to start. Does the front bar have to come off completely to replace the front indicators ? What about the sides ?? Cheers

SunnCoast - performance-wise (ebay or google his webpage url) gave me a REEEEALLY good price on the indicators/nismo mats and gear knob. It's probably a better price than any group buy could do. So get in touch with him.

By the way, I went smoked :( Should look good I reckon ..black skyline, dark indicator, black plates. Yay, I'm getting there.

Black, White & Silver coloured cars are neutral in colour.

So Smoked or Clear lenses go with all of them.

But I also tend to go for Smoked lenses on a black car; or Clear lenses on a silver car.

Are your GTT side lenses flush with the body panel like an R33 GTST or do they stick out like a GTR?

If they stick out, the lens is spring loaded and so, with a screwdriver you push the indicator towards the front on the driver's side - and you push the lens towards the rear on the passenger's side.

Cheers

On the front bar of the R34 GTR they are spring loaded too, and you'd need to manoeuvre the lens to one side before it pulls out with say a suction cap of a GPS holder.

Cheers

For the Side indicators: Just pop them out and change the indicator and bulb. Very easy and pop them back in, takes about 5 minutes.

For the front indicators: Use a screwdriver and cloth to wedge it out of the spring thing, just apply a lil bit of pressure and when it pops out you can just use your hands to pull it out a lil bit more.

Be careful when putting in the bulbs, I was a newb and broke one caused it sprang back out. lol

Ah ok thanks guyd .. didn't realize it was a spring mechanism. Yeah the sides should be easy I reckon. Can anyone tell me which way to push the front indicators to release them?

If its the same as the GTR, you get a screwdriver with soft microfibre wrapped over the tip and push the indicator on the driver's side towards the front.

Repeat on the passenger's side but from the front, you push towards the rear.

The spring is not a metal spring! The housing itself should be spring-loaded plastic.

As the previous post said, be a bit careful with the front ones so that you don't scratch the paint.

You'll be an expert in 5 minutes - I expect!

Cheers

Can you please explain what you mean by "push the indicator on the driver's side towards the front" ?? How can you push the front indicators towards front/rear when they're sitting perpendicular to the car ie. can go only left or right .. or maybe I'm just slow.

from what i gathered from the above posts they just mean to push the actual indicator, the whole thing with the screwdriver toward the back of the car for the passenger side, and toward the front for the drivers, i havent tried this myself but sounds pretty straight forward, just try not to use too much pressure

Hi! Back again,

It's perfectly ok to ask...

I've had a look at pics on the net of a R34 GTT and it looks as if the position and type of indicator is the same as mine or for the R33 GTR for that matter...

If you are replacing the Driver's side indicator, you stand with your hip against the driver's door. You can then push your screwdriver against the side edge of the indicator lens and the whole of the indicator lens moves towards the front of the car. As it does so, the indicator lens starts to pop out.

On the other side, you stand with your left hip against the wheel arch and use the screwdriver against the leading edge of the lens & push it towards the rear of the car before it pops out.

There may be a bit of resistance at first depending on how much grit has lodged behind the indicator but you'll feel the springiness sure enough.

Hope that helps,

Terry

yeah i got that part about the side indicators .. I just don't know how to get the front indicators (on the front bar) out. I've read somewhere else that you have to open the bonnet up and push them from inside the engine bay towards the outside - atleast on an r33 I think. Does that sound right?

Congrats Den, on the sides!

Now it looks from the net that the GTT front indicators are the same set up as the R34 GTR.

In that case, you get a mobile phone/GPS windscreen suction cup and attach it to the driver's side lens. Then use the flathead screwdriver (wrapped with a little microfibre) and insert it on the inner or radiator side; but only till you can have enough leverage to push it sideways to your left (towards the wheel) and it should pop out as it's spring-loaded too. The suction cup can be used to pull out the whole housing without having to use the screwdriver as a lever and end up damaging the paint.

Cheers,

Terry

Just a quick question ..does anyone know where I might pickup a cheap suction cup ??

Hi Den,

Any mobile phone accessory shop will have a cheap mobile phone/gps holder with suction cup.

You can use it later from the top of windscreen on the passenger side to hold the top of a Sony Handycam; support the Handycam from the side window with a stem of a tripod with another suction cap; and support the Sony Handycam from underneath with a tripod sitting on the passenger seat and PRESTO YOU HAVE A CAR CAM !!! And it sits really still as you go up and down the mountainsides

Cheers

found a really cheap bathroom suction cup with a hook at bunnings .. $4.50 or so. Should do the trick.

Interesting note about the camera ... not sure if I'm into that though heh  I am thinking of getting a gps thingy soon as they're very cheap and I hate using the crappy old paper UBD. But I wanna get one with bluetooth built in so I can use mobile hands-free at the same time on it.

Just tried to unclip the side indicators and they came out real easy, a bit TOO easy. It probably takes 10 sec each to take them off. A bit worried someone might try and help themselves to my indicators so I'm thinking of putting some glue in there when I put the new ones in. What do you reckon?

Hi Den,

That might depend on what suburb you live in I think. I probably would't fret about it since even garden variety Camrys and Fords & GMs can come with clears nowadays.

Clears look great though eh? Did you get smoke or clears? Doesn't matter - I put smoke on my black car and clears on my silver Honda.

Tell me when you come up to the Blue Mtns; for a coffee and a run - preferably not at the same time!

Coffee and carpet don't mix

Cheers,

Terry

PS Can give you a disk copy of an R34 Workshop Manual

I got the smoke ones ..should look fantastic I reckon (black car too). Got personalized (silver text on black background) plates coming in by the end of the week hopefully too. Now all I need is to get the bilstein suspension and lower the car 2cm (stock springs), fix a couple of rattles and I'm sweet for a while

Thanks for the invite .. I'll take you up on that next time up that way. Cheers

    • These coils draw 10amps that what i read online
    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
    • That worked out PERFECTLY! Thank you big time to JJ. He was able to swap me his stock diff. He drove all the way to me as well. Killer! Removal & install was pretty straightforward. The diff itself is HEAVY. So that’s a 2 man job.  Man does the car drive nice now! Couldn’t have worked out any better 👌
    • I'm interested,do you still have it?
