i dont trust any workshop with my car no matter how recognised they are, refer to the dude who's s15 got written off when he went in for a service. they also charge an arm and a leg to tune your ecu which takes maybe an hr. pfft

Bl4cK32 - I agree and I never would have taken my car there either. But John is working there now because his brother owns the joint so I'd only take it there to see him - definitely no one else!!! Thats why I said "make sure you ask for him though!!" :D

Hippy - I got into Tilbrooks with no trouble. Why such a long wait?? I personally didn't even think they were that good, but just my 2c!

Turbo Tune would be my pick also,

John Keen has leagues of experience on any of the other tuners mentioned above.

-He has built and tuned V8 super cars for the last ten 10 years.

-He will happily provide warrenty on the Cars he Dyno tunes!!( I don't know a single other tuner who will back up there work like that)

-The Dyno he uses is the newest and most accuate hands down in Adelaide(2WD + 4WD) It has sperate cell correction which means that no matter the temp or realative humidity you will always get the same power reading.

Yes other tuners might get more power from your car however how long it will last is another story, and when it does go bang.....do you think they will say" no prob, it's under warrenty"

John is really good and he'll know your car's limits - he won't tune it so stupidly that it blows up or anything like that.

He tunes my b/f's cars and he got an extra 27kw out of one just by tuning it. He said it had heaps more potential but he said he didn't want to go stupid or it would just be too impractical. He is really smart and knows his stuff.

I was at Turbo Tune one night when he was tuning a 200sx my b/f's bro was driving at the Clipsal 500. Gained stacks of power, from bout 160 to 180 something kw just by tuning and dyno running it once.

Steve: Martin left Tilbrooks cos he didnt get along with the new guy from subzero. They had an arguement over John Munros drag car ( the sub zero guy said that munros car needed a microtech ecu whereas martin believes the apexi power fc is fine) anyway he got pissed off and left.... Thats wat i was told, but Martin, however im sure John would know the full story.

Hmm im considering seeing Turbo tune.... So if they up my boost and something goes wrong, they will look after me? Sounds too good to be true.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
