Green P's, passenger restrictions, no mods till ya 21, no boost, no late nights driving around, fuel @ $1.65 a litre!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of cars kids!!!

For the new drivers, none of that till 22! Remember you've got 4 years on Ps now. And by then (Edit: by then, I mean July), petrol will probably be at $2 a litre.

I pray for you NRG, i also envy you in everyway possible, you are living the p plate dream, wear those green p's high with pride :ermm: lol

Im going all aftermarket on my green p's ass, im spraying mine blue!!! might add a few Kw to the wheels... im hopping so anyhow :)

Man i think its kinda stupid that we get them....like you'd think it would be easier for us to retain our P plates (red) and just give the new ones to the newer p platers. I don't know how this is going to come out on the back of my tinted windows either. Might not even show.

Im doing one of the 6 steps involved aswell! im writing a letter on my Red p's and sending it into Vic roads to tell them just how much they suck balls.

Hate Vic roads with a passion.....i don't know if anyone else is with me on that, but i had alot of bad run ins with them, and yeh....just absolutely dogs balls service and they all look like they been poppin bikkies the night before when you see em working (down at south oakliegh anyhow)

Just my 2 cent's...

Think i might put up my old L's my red P's and my Green ones jus to confuse the shit out of everyone, cause i pretty much am dead set confused, i know we retain the old laws...but when the new p's for 1st of July and after drivers come out...what do they get after the first year is over????!!!!! (since they have 4 years) do they get green p's too!? (like NSW)...but thing is even then, they still have newer laws when they'll be on greenies....which makes no sense, therefore will there be 3 types of P plates now ????!! gah.... someone at vic roads needs to be publically excecuted for this.

Hey mate, I agree with you - the new green plates look arse! And yeah, I agree once again, it would have made more sense for us current P-platers to keep our red plates with the newbies being given the new green ones. Actually, correct if I am wrong; but weren't they going to do exactly this - I can swear I read somewhere that people getting their P's after the 1st of July 2008 will be on a new P's (e.g. these green ones) and they would therefore have to stay on for 1 year longer or something... Or, I could have been mistaken - it might be that they go on their red P's for 3 years with the final year being on their green P's (like us people) - anyways, someone can confirm this.

Despite them looking like a donkey's arse, you can't change the colour of your P's - e.g., those white background P's with the red letter - 100% illegal and you can get fined for them.

If you have a tinting problem like me - I suggest and the cops themselves have suggested this many time - stick the P's on the outside - don't know about you guys, but if I'm on my P's (which I am by the way), I'd stick it outside to avoid a $155 fine and loss of 2 demerit points. I personally used a big piece of bluetac in the centre of the P plate and just apply water to the edges, push it down really hard and as it dries, it will harden and will not fall off.

I can give a stuff about VicRoads, just wanna do my time and get off these stupid P plates - when you're 26 and still on your P's, makes you look like an arse riding a tricycle imo. :D

Well, the new laws kick in midnight 30/6 so make sure they're on that night or you'll be fined and lose 2 demerits points for forgetting to upgrade to a gayer colour!! :)

And oh, by the way the "six ways to dispose of your RED Plates" thing is gay... as we're still freaken on our bloody P's - would have made sense if something like this was sent to us when we get off our P's... lol

got them today in the mail as well.. blahh its so confusing, everyone got used to the idea of Green P's being the shit ones.. dont know why they insist on thousands of people to use green plates instead of red when its much easier if they left us on red and gave the green to the new guys so you know for sure they're the passenger restrictor types.. really bad idea from vicroads on this one

yea agree with you there, i geuss we can blame it on the older generations as well as they all started this, ask ur older brothers some one thats like in there 30 to 40 and tell them what they did to cars i ask my boss about it and he said he always did stupid shit and he even admitted u can blame on us older generations for starting all this dragging and illegal stuff because they did it befor us young generation.

stupid laws, i mean i got car registerd and i had to go from dande to oaklie to get a seat belt which had a tag, fkn bs i say, only 1 thing wrong and it was seat belt just because tag was cut it wasnt aus standards other side had it should it matter if my side did lol. my old seat belt was good and nothin wrong with it. i was shatterd when i had to do that bah waste of time too, but i got seat belt and they didint even looked at it propperly all they said was , " YEA IT LOOKS NEW" i was like bah waste of time and money

im glad i got the old laws where im only on 3 years! cause i plan to get my 34gtr when 20! to start working on it. i cant wait.. under 2 years to go.. woo! reckon green p platers are gonna be less targetted than the red ones now? kinda so were seen as the 'good' p plates lol.. so i hope

They're swapping red to green and what not to match NSW, NSW have less restrictions on green... If you change to green you still only on them for 3 years not 4.

yeah thats what i think aswel.. my driving instructor said it was likely to happen cause people on the new laws have new restrictions

so police will wanna check them when they see them..

This all sucks for the P-platers out there... I can see why there are these new rules, but they are fairly f*kn ridiculous...

Im sick of authorities creating new rules to police a minority.. :D happening all too often lately in all aspects of enjoying yourself!

At least Vicroads don't make you pick these plates up between their work friendly office hours of 9-4 of whatever they are!! :D

i was out with mates last nite that i havnt seen since from highschool. and now i understand why these laws are cumming in.

the amount of f*kn dickheads out there....doing burnouts through residential streets at 4am, and laps around schools sideways is just unbelievable.

one of em even at a set of lights with 4 cars behind him just starts doing a burnout, filling the entire intersection with smoke...and just drives off....i was speechless.

it makes my blood boil that these ppl wreck it for us

i thought i was a hoon for having a loud exhaust but my god.....its crazi. :D

im seriously gonna be using hat hoon hotline......

Big piece of bluetac eh? I might give that a go with the new green plates :P, tape just isn't doing it for me anymore lol

    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
