driving without a gearknob COULD be dangerous and there is no proof as to how many days you were driving without one and when you were getting a new one...

that's not in question however, what the issue here is the fact that they gave you a sticker for things you've already had inspected a few days beforehand and that's all on the paperwork you can provide...

if you take it to the pits and have the same guys inspect it they're going to think those officers were just arseholes, fight it man... just wait on your response...

also depends how many days you have leftover on your sticker, the last one i had i only had 8 days to rectify all my problems and i only JUST got it ready...

let us know what happens dude but i'm sure you would anyway

Im gonna have to go ahead and say that your not gonna get off.

Yes you did just get it inspected, but by driving while your car was unroadworthy (missing gearknob) you had to know that you'd get another canary if you were pulled over. I think its purely bad luck on your part.

Granted the fact that the new sticker contains things covered in the original one seems stupid, but the missing gear knob is a legitimate reason for a yellow.

Im not saying that its illigitimate, however it is not right.

The law is suppose to represent right and wrong (people often forget that) and this simply does not

I agree dude seriously, im in a similar situation.

Driving my car around with two quite bald tyres as i bought it like that. I have an appointment to get new tyres tomorrow arvo but if i get pulled over in the morning tomorrow I'll no doubt get a sticker.

The timing of when you got pulled over sucks but thems the breaks.

Don't listen to them!

Fight it all the way~ !!

F*cking cops.

If it was me, i would be doing the same as you.

Whether it was legitament to give you a yellow sticker for a gear knob is not really the question.

Its the fact that he just took of his yellow a few days ago! You would of thought they would of given him a break and just let him go. Especially in light he had his car broken into... which i would assume he filed a police report, so he would have proof there.

Some people are just real assh*les.

Anyway, i better start studying for my last exam for my BACHELOR DEGREE!! which is @ 1pm today.

ahhhhh.

f**king hope you win this over dude ...

f**king useless cops in Perth now-days hassling everyone on the road when real crimes (burgulary, violent acts etc) are happening everyday and there isnt a cop in sight.

Ive only ever had 1 yellow sticker from the cops ... but am hassled all the time... my yellow was for an OIL LEAK on my THERMOSTAT !!!

i attempted to explain that only red coolent goes through the thermostat.. and that the oil leak was infact dirt... INSTANT yellow sticker...

Good luck , and dont give up , cops need to learn to lay the f**k off us enthusiests

And while they seem to be bussy another one of my friends got a brick through his car windows just for shitz and giggles... his car was in murdoch at the time...

murdoch???

wth, i thought that place was safe.....!!

O sh!t

lol dude, give the Police Force a break, they divide into different units and i'm sure you know that, generally only Traffic Officers pull over cars unless you do something super stupid (for example, i have posted a thread up here once before, i got pulled over by TRG in their 4WD for doing 50km/h+) and there was nothing they could've done about it and they let me off... i gave a pretty good reason though...

anyway, what i'm saying is that if all the Police Officers were out catching robbers and stuff there would be none that would catch and yellow sticker 'hoons' and rightfully so ie. guys that do burnouts in suburban streets etc. and vice versa...

anyway, dude... fight it and see how you go, worth a shot man and you've got nothing to lose

P.S: i thought Murdoch was safe lol

If it all doesnt work out, wait till you have scrathes or something you need fixing at the front of ya car, sit up a coppers ass, wait till he brakes, then drive right into him... nothing better than seeing a cop car all ding'd up... and even better, they will have to pay for the damage...

Just an idea! :P

No.. you would pay the damage.

hahaha thats right.

It needs to be the other way round.

Have the cop go up ur rear end of the car and he will have to pay :P

No, they'll do you for dangerous driving for braking heavily and you'll still have to pay.

    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
    • It says 300ZX, does that make it an Aus delivered car? Funny how back in the day I just couldn't care less about Z32's and these days I am just in love with them. Back when Nissan was into pushing the envelope. 🤣
    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
