Hi everyone,

just wondering if i could ask a favour from any R34 owners out there with FACTORY XENON headlights (NOT aftermarket H1 kits to deal with butchered compliance headlights).

I've never actually seen what the factory lights are like at night and was wondering if anyone would be so kind to take a pic of their car at night, facing a wall, garage door, etc... preferably not parked too close to the wall/door.

Basically i want to see what the cut-off and beam pattern is like, etc....

cheers!

daniel

Mine were put back in after compliance and they are sweet i would never buy another car without them they are brilliant for night driving. Hope this is what you were after my camera sucks tho. The drivers side one points lower but they throw a huge beam and bright as f$#k you can barely look at roadsigns you drive past there that bright

what year is your stagea?? i'd also doubt they are projectors.... OEM Xenon projectors look like this...

i appreciate the post ;) but every reflector assembly has a different light patern, so i was kinda chasing someone with OEM R34 shots. Having said that though, we might have diagnose something with your car that needs to be checked...

The more i look at the front pic of yours, the more i think they're not Xenon. You should be above the cut-off line there with the angle you took the front shot, but you can still see a fair amount of glaring. This is a hallmark of an aftermarket HID kit in a reflector assembly not designed for it. A Xenon bulb (D2s, D2r, etc) has a certain light "signature" and the reflectors are designed to suit. You put in an H1 or whatever globe, the "pattern" of light doesn't match up and you get flaring everywhere, hot spots, etc.

The front shot does make the light look too yellow to be Xenon, could just be the pics

Is there a way to check like a part number or something. They look a little yellow cos of the parker globe which sits directly below the xenon, plus my camera sucks really bad and it was taken with the flash on. When looking at them they really are a purple/blue color,im not doubting what your saying but the camera really doesn't do justice to how it really looks if there is a way to check let me know and i'll check it out as it was listed on the auction sheet as xenon's so if they aren't i will be just a little bit pissed off. Oh and it is a 1999 series 2 stagea

well i just picked my car up from the panelshop thisarvo n the replacement headlight they put on is HID but the one they didnt replace is ye-olde compliance hack job so ill try n get some photos before i get a replacement light. dont own a camera so have ta try n get my mates one.

My r34 has xenons, will try to take a photo tonight...but there are like 4 modes you can adjust the xenon.

I havent really worked out what these modes actually do except they kinda differ in height a little.

PM me if i forget. lol

Andy, they come from the factory with Xenons, same as virtually every R34, but because they're not auto-leveling and don't have a washer function, they don't meet ADRs and are removed during compliance.

The easiest way to tell is point the car near a wall and watch what they do when you turn them on - Xenons will light up a bit like a street light - take a few seconds to reach full brightness.

JI34GT - that knob is to adjust the height of the beam, nothing else.

i have Xenons on my R34 and there excellent and give such a better light then standard. i can try and get a pic of mine today or tonight. but i would reconmend them. if ur thinking of getting a set.

But ill warn you now, a new set of R34 xenon headlights will cost min of $2500 or about $1200 for second hand set.

    • Do they always do it from the AFM? If so... You know what I'm already thinking I reckon...
    • The other problem is that the pan is on an exchange basis, which would be a pain to have to send original sump to Oz for the work to be done. Would ideally need to be able to pay for a locally sourced core. To that end - I'd just fabricate one outright.
    • Not at all, pure street use, touge, even drag strip and you'll be fine   There's a larger version of it too, however would be overkill for your application. If you do plan on using that sump, might as well fit a headdrain/crank case vent to help alleviate crank case pressure. Your mechanic will also notice you cannot re-use the AWD windage trays on the motor too, as it fouls with the AWD -> RWD sump. However given your usage, you'll be fine.
    • @GTSBoy yeah but the MAIN problem is that "you" guys may know that but i/my mechanic did not. I literally spend hours to find differences between Stagea and Skyline engine (even here) and found kinda "nothing" Yeah one guy mentioned that the block is larger/wider but nothing about the oil pan. Of course AWD has different one but "everybody" says...yeah just slap RWD pan... and the parts number for my N/A engine and NEO DET were the same so iam using one from my old engine. And of course being in EU/Czech many of the sites did not even show(i need VPN to be here)... @MBS206NO it is not my channel and not my video. Dont even know the guy. I just post this as a reference cuz i have the same problem. As i said you guys in AU/NZD may know this but here it is kinda a new info cuz IF someone doing this swap they already have oil pan or they make custom one.  @Dose Pipe Sutututu Yeah it is AWD RB25DET NEO Yeah as you mentioned the pick up is in a different place ...but i do not drift or track the car. It is and will be strictly street and just "casual" weekend cruiser. With that "custom" pan as shown in the video...could there be some problems?  For others. Iam sorry if that topic "looks" like i want to show/boost some YT channel or numbers. Iam quite the opposite.  I would rather drive my car thru sewers than get the attention that this car gets here. I do not have any YT channel nor IG/Twitter or TikTok. I just want some info from time to time cuz here...there is none :-)
