Go for a decat through silicone intakes, $39.99, it looks like a cat but has a straight pipe through it! or go a r34 GTR car, much higher flowing than most high flows (thanks scandy) not sure on a price tho

How old is the CAT?

They typically should last a reasonable time. My last was a touch under 150,000km's before it began to break up.

IF its blowing out quickly consider having the tune checked; of which may also be related to your recent spark plug tip melting experience. :S

If something is off dropping another cat on to it is a waste of money as it will just break again.

when i got the car i was told the cat looked new, the thing with the spark plugs has been sorted, ended up being that the nos leaned out in two cylinders.

i didnt have an O2 sensor for awhile, in the last service it was discovered that it wasnt working, but i dont know how long before that it had not been working for.

there is no point in me getting a high flow cat, there are no benefirs, i have already been told that by John Keen, if it was turbo then yes it would be worthwhile, but cause im all the way naturally aspirated, there is just no point in me spending the money on something that is not going to benefit.!

If all issues are sorted just bang the guts out until you have the $$ to grab another cat. all though not really recommended legally. :D

Cubes, ive heard that banging the guts out causes too much turbulence in the housing, thats why decat's are used? I dunno, i think i read it somewhere :)

if you dont wanna spend the money why not just get a pipe to replace your car? ^_^

Hi Cara,

I have a second hand cat sitting around it was only used for one week on my old 32 before having a race cat put on the car.

Send me a pm and i am sure we can make a deal for it.

Hey Shaun, I have a second hand cat that sits around all day too and eats too much sleeps too much and sprays my bike weekly.

No offence to any of my fellow Asian Bro's out there but does anyone have a chinese restaurant that may be interested.....they're supposed to taste like chicken!! :)

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
