I just had a quote to convert mine in WA. Will probably be booking in on Monday - 10 week wait!

Congratulations on your decision....here in VIC it is around a 5-6 month wait for a conversion! (at a reputable workshop).

What system are you fitting? and are you going dual fuel or dedicated LPG?

I am going dual fuel. I have spoken to Shane (i think) at Forcefeed Gas in Jandakot for a direct injection system (i think). I have the details just not in front of me. Cost is $4700. Get $3k back from govt so net cost is $1700. System includes 60lt tank mounted in the boot between rear struts and a piggy back computer to sort out the gas system.

With my current fuel use it should pay for itself in 6 months. Interesting to note he is doing another stagea shortly. He is responsible for the r34 in Perth that is running on gas - thread discussing car is somewhere on this site.

I think SGI (sequential gas injection) is what "Urtwhistle" R34 GTT is running of "Prins" brand. His seems to work really well and is duel fuel with Power FC aftermarket ECU. He seems to have maxed his power out at 200 RWKW (on single injectors per cylinder.

My system is a little different being a Gas Research system www.gasresearch.com.au. It is not SGI however the skies the limit in terms of potential power with dual converters and throttle bodies (my installer has seen about 495 RWKW with this setup in a turbo XR6 Falcon).

There are many turbo RB30 VL Commodore's running with this setup and doing 9 and 10 sec 1/4 mile passes.

However if you are not into big power figures and can live with about 200 RWKW, then the SGI system is a great system once tuned properly.

I am awaiting the development of the liquid injection LPG system which is yet another generation ahead of SGI (vapour ) systems. This system will inject liquid LPG instead of (gas) vapour into the engine so no converter is required. It seems it's availability is just around the corner here in VIC anyway, firstly available for GEN 3 V8 Commodores and 6 cylinder Commodores and Falcons.

Time will tell how these liquid LPG systems perform!

seriously thinking about this, but going straight lpg, put gas tank where existing tank is.

MRO, Do u have to pay the $4700 upfront or only the $1700 and they claim the rabates?

Cheers

Jnr

This is exactly whay I have done, putting the LPG tank in place of the petrol tank, with a shield to cover the tank, SLR 5000 droptank style.

You need to pay the whole amount upfront and then claim the rebate back....got my rebate back in 2 weeks.

RS4stagman and hectic180 - where does the filler cap go for your LPG setup. I just had a horrible thought that i might have to have funny looking cap popping out of the rear quarter somewhere. please tell me it is discretly mounted somewhere out of sight!

Filler Point

Filler point on mine is in the same place as the factory petrol filler location! (Remember mine is dedicated LPG). See attached pic.

Don't know where they put them on dual fuel Stageas or Skylines - try to talk your workshop into placing the lpg filler right next to the petrol filler location-subject to space- this makes for a neat installation that is hidden behind the filler door.

Try to get them not to cut your rear quarter panel if at all possible!

Here are some pics of My Stagea LPG Conversion.

Hi, congartulations on your conversion.

Just a few questions;

a) Is the dyno done in 2WD or 4WD mode?

b) Do you have any A/F ratio or engine torque plots?

c) What was the power curve like on petrol?

d) Is the car modified at all?

e) How much ignition timing are you running?

G day,

The Dyno was performed in 4wd mode.

I do not have the Afr or Torgue plots.

The blue line is the Lpg power and the Red is 98 Ron.

The car has stock dump pipe with 3' exhaust and Hks air filter. Thats it.

the ignition timing has not been adjusted to suit Lpg as i am running Duel Fuel.

Hectic180,

Nice choice of installer mate.

I have had a few chats with Martin regarding my Gas-Research RB30's.

When it comes to tuning LPG in Sydney he is deffinately the gas guru IMO. I will be converting a Stag to straight gas in a few weeks time & will deffinately be going to Goff & Sons for the final tune up...

Regards John!

From my calculations, looking at the the dyno curves on 98RON and LPG you are making more power on LPG for about 85% of the time throughout the rev range and the other 15% of the time not far behind....

That's a pretty good result.

LOL, you might want to replace your "Unleaded Fuel Only" sticker on your car. :O

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
