I am planning on doing some minor mods in the next month to my 34gtr so i dont blow the ceramic wheels of my turbo's through a perfectly good rb26! The car is seldom driven on the road and will see the track about once a month.

My thoughts are....

power fc

hks gtss turbos

700 cc injectors

cam gears and a tune!

What is a good [rapist!] mechanic/tuner going to charge me for this and what are your thoughts on the mods? keep in mind i dont want insane amounts of power, but i do want reliability.

all input would be appreciated, and i live on the gold coast if people could reccomend anyone..

Dont forget about a good oil cooler and maybe radiator to a lesser extent....

A good oil cooler is key when it comes to reliability on the track (and road)

Highly recomend the Greddy stuff, have one myself and its awsome

Thanks mate, what would be the cost installed for the cooler???

Why not do all of the work yourself. Its only bolt on stuff you are doing.

Then the tune will be the only thing you will have to pay for (and the tow to the tuners)

EDIT: You have a Prado and a 34GTR. Whats a few grand on mods and labour.

Mate, love the idea of saving money, but im an absolute spastic when it comes to anything like that! i would rather pay someone to get the job done properly! I dont want to spend anymore than around 6k, am i around the money?

I also have 2 properties with ridiculous mortgages, so i am trying to stick to a budget so i can eat each week!!!

turbos on/off should be around 1k labour. GT-SS come with all gaskets etc so no added cost there. (3k)

So 4k fitted or there abouts for turbos.

Tune 700, injectors take about 15mins so nothing major there, maybe new orings or something, cheap either way.

PFC 900

plus cam gears/fit another say 350-400 or so.

6k sounds reasonable, could be 500 or so more maybe, but its right on the ballpark

Thankyou for that, much appreciated! sounds like a plan. Any ideas if the old 34 turbos are worth re-selling? if so, what should they be worth?

Your old turbo's will be desirable for someone who has blow up their stockers or want a mild upgrade for a R32GTR.

Depending on condition ~ $500-800

Thanks mate, better than nothing. will help a little. will post some dyno sheets once its all done.. anyone know a good tuner/mechanic. i've heard Gavin Wood or Matty Spry? any previous experiance with either? anyone?

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
