Ok 1 week ago on a Friday i had my car booked into Boostworx for Shaun and Troy to do my 5 stud conversion it was there all day and they did an ace job in the middle i had to go get a filter for an oil change as Troy didn't know that was being done and didn't get one there earlier,

on the drive to the shop i heard some what i thought was bad bearing noise told Troy about it and he took it for a test drive to hear it also

that caused him to take to wheel off and on a couple of times till he sorted it :D

well left there a very happy customer

that leads me to today coming home i pressed to brakes for a longer period and hard and it was fine then went to the floor i was a little shocked as you could imagine so let off and tried again press and worked for a little then went to the floor and nothing, so for very short braking was fine but over use and it went to the floor :)

i went straight to Everlast Mufflers to see if Justin could put it on the hoist and we could have a gander, well to my amazement my brake line was resting on my rim and being cut in two by my rim.

i rang Shaun up and told him my predicament and he remembered seeing the other side close to the rim and fixed that up but said that side was fine but concluded that when we dropped the car off the hoist it must have moved, so i paused and let him continue to speak and he said well i can ring up JIS (see banner's for URL) and get you the part he asked if i was handy with a tool and could fit it my self i said prolly and he said well if you need to get someone to do the labour he would foot the bill also (what a champ)

ok bare in mind this conversation is happening 15 mins from 5pm most businesses closing times so i got off the phone from Shaun and rang up JIS by now its 4:50pm i asked when he shut and confirmed that Shaun rang him and told him about the brake line, he claimed they shut at 5pm but i could be lucky and someone would still be there till 5:30 so this was when i actually told him about the brake line and if he could remain open, this was fine :ermm: 2x champs

i get to JIS and see a youngish oriental guy name Cosey and he comes and takes a look @ my car and we get the parts and i go to him shouldn't take too long to fit? i asked him if i could borrow some tools and got to work, whilst talking about a few parts that i also need :D so all in all he helped me bleed the brakes and i was done by about 6:15, i asked him how much for his time and labour not that he did anything and he said dont worry just pay for the part to which Shaun was paying for

he said just remember to tell all my mates about Japanese Import Spares now i know a lot of you guys may of already heard of them and what not but now here is your good reason to go see him for a price

sorry for the big ass storey but this is to help people realise this is why i will drive past 40+ workshops from St Agnes and wait 4 weeks to go and see Shaun and Troy

yeah Iam sure many on this forum would agree Shaun/Troy are good lads. Have been taking my cars there for over 2 years now and always been happy with the service. If there is the slightest of issues they are more then happy to have it sorted for you asap aswell, they definetly dont dick there customers around.

Ryan

Luke ENR they also have some R34 Brembos :D i thought of your but dont know if your getting from Japan still

Thanks steve. They are very tempting for $2500 Shame theres that mark on the caliper :ermm:

Got 4days till i find out if i get these http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f69003457

I bought 2 gtr boxes and a s13 box from jap import spares, anyway had then checked out quickly (read very f**king slowly don't get me started on these guys) by a gearbox specialist and one had some crunchy bearings in it, they swapped it over no questions asked, good service.

I have found generally they are priced quite cheaply, sometimes their new stuff is a bit dear if you know other places to look but other stuff i got from there is well priced.

Agreed Shaun and Troy(hey also dont forget Adzy) are all top blokes, speaking of which went down there today to book the Risty in for a service, I wont say when im booked in for :P It pays to know them well and race with them....... :( As long as they are in Business i will still go there!!

Yeh i have also found that JIS and JMS seem to be the only decent parts joints around, well 2nd hand parts joints anyways!!

Glad you got your stuff sorted Steve!!

Yeah been to JIS a few times.

Let me stuff around with my brakes in the shop etc.

Live one block away from them.

gotta say tho, not the cheapest in prices. $350 for a stock ECU . I got quoted $250 somewhere else. In the end got one for $100.

Guess thats not all parts tho

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
