I was just wondering if there are any carbon fibre vinyl out there? because I was thinking about a carbon fibre bonnet, but it seems there's no carbon fibre bonnet for a r33 s2 without any vents and stuff. So is it possible to wrap my bonnet in carbon fibre vinyl? And around how much will it cost?

yep there is carbon fibre vinyl but its hard to find it in the size you wont which is to cover your bonnet.

i have seen a 34 bonnet done but there was a join a third up top of the bonnet, so good idea and it looked awsome with a few coats of clear over the top, but you could see the join which turnd me off. i did this 2 years ago so you might be able to get it in a larger size now, just call your local sign shops. could be 4 to 500 including 2pack clear finish.

i thought the point of a CF hood was to drop weight...

:D generally it is but some people like the aesthetic look it gives, its the old form over function debate, just like when 32 GTS-t drivers put a GTR bonnet on to help save weight.

The size vinyl you require and the effort/cost it would take to do so you would be better to buy a carbon look bonnet instead. If you have a look around you should be able to find one for a S2 that doesn't have any vents.

I know, but I've tried already, I couldn't find any without vents, all the carbon fibre bonnets that I found has at least 1 big vent if not 3-4, and I like my bonnet plain , like the original s2 bonnet :(

just paint your bonnet black and then get anti slip matting and putt it over your bonnet to get the small square effect then light silver over the matt then peal off then clear coat it...youtube air brushing a guy does it to a xbox 360 case looks awsome.

At my work we order and use all sorts of Vinyl, if you like, ill make a few calls tomorrow and ill let you know what price and how big you can get it.

I've also created my own carbon fibre image that i can print onto about 1300mm wide vinyl by as long as you need, so if your interested i can do it for you.

Cheers

That's great! But there's one problem...Your in Brisbane and I'm in Melbourne....

But I wouldn't mind a quote on this :P

Thanks Steve

We have a mould for a plain Series II hood, however there really hasn't been much interest in the stock hood in carbon to warrant ordering any. Most people prefer to add vents for the benefits of reducing engine bay temps, especially your ignition system.

Ah this is true,

A place called Supply One sells CF Vinyl in 2 types of colours, Black and Silver, they come in 610mm and 1220mm rolls, they sell by the meter at $47.90per metre, the black is guaranteed for 2 years out doors and the silver is guaranteed for 5...

im sure that they will delivery interstate, if u want the number let me know

Cheers

I was looking at doing this myself...with no luck.

There is a mob that can coat the bonnet called aqua dip or something, but it was over $1000 to get done and their in NSW. :D

modicoat perhaps. looks great, I don't know how it would stand up to the environment, stones and bugs, I've only ever seen it on interior pieces.

    • Yeah I've had too many issues with knock off's on the BMW's. I don't want to do a job twice or more because the parts are shit.
    • I read this and thought "ah! I will do this scissor jack on the tow point thing!" I just use my floor/low profile/costco jack and lift the car up by the tow hook itself, then slide jack stands under. Never thought about using scissor into floor jack combo :p
    • Well, my new WMI system took much longer to finalize. I actually missed my dyno appointment last Friday and lost my 150$ deposit. I'll be going back in the next week or two.  To sum it up. I only kept the AEM tank from my old setup. I replaced the AEM pump with a higher flow/pressure ProMeth 30GPH pump. I also swapped over to a 6AN low pressure feed line to the pump from the tank. There's also a pressure switch you cannot see on the pump high pressure line.    This is feeding 6x 200CC direct port nozzles and 1x 500CC Pre Throttle body nozzle. All fittings are Swagelok, because well why not. I also have a 300PSI pressure sensor up front.    I now have my Haltech ECU controlling everything. I start my pump with a basic relay at 5PSI and deadhead it. I then PWM a 3000CC methanol Injector to control flow starting around 10psi. The pressure switch in the trunk, along with my tank level are safeties before I ever get to 10PSI, and then I use my pressure sensor upfront as a secondary safety to cut the WMI and corrections in case the injector blocks or a line ruptures.  Wish me luck on the dyno!
    • So, I'm back with bad news. There's no jack long enough on this planet that will reach the front subframe. If by some chance there is, it would weigh 200lb's.  I purchased a long reach jack... The damn thing weighted 120lb's and was massive. Didn't even come close, was still short at least a foot. It was a pain, but I brought it back. Next I decided HA! No problem, I'll get an Extra long reach jack. Well, I couldn't lift the box... It must have weighed 160LB's and luckily there was an open box in store. I took measurement and was still nowhere close.  Sadly I've lost hope and have accepted defeat.
    • Thanks for that tip, niZmO_Man. I think the battery is OK. It's quite a new one, but I'll check. Last time I needed a new battery, everything electronic was fine, except that there wasn't enough current to turn over the starter. I decided to order one of the partial AV system translation CDs from Car Audio Workshop in NZ. That might have some effect, or help me diagnose the date problem. 🤞
