hey guys

over the past few months i have noticed my drivers door cracking every time i go to close the door once it was full open.

Its like once the door opens past a certain point it will crack when it gets closed.

its gotten worse now cause its starting to make cracking sounds when opening aswell.

Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and what is the best way to tackle it

Cheers Adrian

I don't quite know what you mean.

Though I think you may be talking about your "check strap"

Search this on Google images to see what your looking, for if you don't know what it is.

When you know what it is check if the two bolts are done up tight and or if the pin is jumping round in the hinge when opening and closing the door.

Watch your passenger door to compare.

Ive checked all the bolts and they are all tight.

When i open and close the drivers door, that metal strap sort of thing like jumps off its seat which causing it to click/crack.

on the passenger side it all seems fine. the strap doesn't move at all.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
