Just bringing up another thing on RB oil pumps.

Sydneykid and others have already brought up plenty of info on the various oil pumps and setups available at the moment.

I just want to know who has had any experience with the NISMO oil pumps that are available as well. They are roughly $900ish.

They are not N1 oil pumps, so they must be different, stronger?

Cheers

Here's a pic of a stock r33GTR pump vs an N1 pump I have pulled apart.

Wider and bigger gears, stiffer oil relief spring, more robust and flow friendly housing and a different shape pressure relief valve.

Haven't seen the inside of a Nismo pump.

Okay, I'm going to use an N1 housing I have lying around and buy a new billet gearset that is made to suit the housing. It'll cost $550 for the gears.

They are CNC machined billet. The material they use doesn't require hardening.

Only doing this as I already have an N1 pump with gears I ain't gonna use.

if you got bulk keshhh HKS 3.2k

????????????????????????????!

Great, now I don't know what pump it is...

I know the top on in my pic is definitely an R33GTR stock oil pump (it's out of my R33 engine).

What is the bottom one then.....I have another pic of it.

There are no nissan markings on the casting, the insie of pump has a smooth coating on it and oilways are cast for more flow compared to stock.

The gears are wider and larger in diameter than stock gears. 85mm diameter and 12mm thick.

Relief valve is different too. Also has roll pins x2 as locators?

3.2K for a pump! I thought that was a reason to not buy HKS! The 4 stage dry sump system on my vw race engine cost only about 1k more than that, and it could easily be adapted to a GTR engine.

I cant imagine why anyone would want bigger than a jun or trust pump and a nice 8lt upgraded baffle sump on 99% of nissan engines. Add some restrictors and isnt that the most proven reliable lubrication system out there?

just a guess.....could it be rb30 or aftermarket rb30 alternative? surely if it was one of the jap brands they would put their name on it.

no-one likes to spend 4x what nissan charges and still miss out on the logo

if it has an alloy plug for the relief valve, and a threaded block off on the side its probably a jun. but definatly aftermarket.

whats the back of the rear cover look like? did it have allen keys as aposed to screws holding it together?

could it be a rd30 diesel onE ???? who knows but its a go-er regardless.

duncan. the rb30 pump has a steel inner gear sleeve thingy. and is a spur gear type not a gearotor type. also smaller.

definatly not a jun pump, jun pumps have a andoised red bolt for the spring and also the back casing will definatly say jun

It has no threaded block off.

Rear cover is flat and screws look the same as stock pump screws (countersunk philips), just one extra.

Couple of things, it was used on a narrow drive crank by the look of the inner gear :P

And the alloy pressure relief bolt had a valve shim to bump up the spring tension on the relief valve (you can see it in on of the pics in the plug lol).

    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
