:D HEY ALL

im in your help again as i need to know weather a rb25 turbo is the same size as a rb20.

****the reason for this is...****

i have dropped a rb20 im my e30 bmw and after this conversion my turbo is just clearing the chassis rail by 20mm so there is not much room to make it any bigger so i need a turbo basically the exact same size. and if the rb25 does happen to be the same size what is involved to install the rb25 e.g. pipes the target for the power it will produce is 200kw atw or a bit over

your helpis required thanks :)

dont quote me, i think rb25 turbo on an RB20 will get you about 180-190 with supporting mods, fuel pump, injectors, computer, zorst, cooler. But I think it would be stretching it to get 200. Someone will know better but thats the general power area im pretty sure.

as for the physical size of the turbo It's slightly larger.

hope this helps

OKAY thats fairenough but what if i high flowed the turbo is that goin to give me that power gain to get me closer??? i will be doing the above but also chucking in some tomie cams for that bit more punch surley that will get me on the money??? and how much boost could be put through it???

an rb25 turbo on a rb20det will push around 180-190kw depending on tune (sometimes hit 200kw depending on dyno)

I currently have a hiflow rb20 turbo which will be getting installed next week along with a tune.

I'll let you know how much power I will gain with the hiflow.

Although there are different stages of hiflow so it depends how much you willing to spent to get it past 200kw

would be easier and probably cheaper to sell up and buy a gts4

A gts4 with rb20 and 1450kg is not a WRX beater in no way shape or form.

besides, this fella has an RB20 in an E30 (I would have gone sr20 but anyway)

that is the reason for his turbo upgrade issue. nothing physically bigger will fit in the stock spot.

exactly right gtst it is a fair bit lighter good suspension set up and i think it could get to the point of beating a wrx... im not out to even try and kill a sti what you think???

is it possible

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
