Personally i hated hicas, im so much happier with it gone and i harly ever drift. So much more predictable round corners. And yes it is a must if you drift the car! The hicas will try to make you go straight the whole time instead of sideways

It can be done with hicas, gets a bit hairy when goin hard and particularly if its a bit wet.

Lots of corrections and in my opinion not worth keeping if your seriously considering the drift.

Mine is a R32 but I know I hated the stuff. I mean its a sports car of sorts and why the hell does it need a driving aid.

Got rid of it and actually think it has improved the handling. More predictable and I think quicker due to the fact as now I know exactly when slip will happen rather than there she goes-oh sh*t there she goes again.

i still got mine and try to slide. when i 1st started i thought hicas was shit and it was making me oversteer etc.... then i realised that finding a smooth rd is one of the more important things. plus if its a r32, hicas is minimal, i remember reading somewhere that hicas on r32's only moves out like 1.5 degrees, which aint much, and unless your doing 120k entries you shouldnt worry about it to much...

in saying that, i still plan on removing it in the near future.

HICAS never made me spin out but it certainly made the car feel rather dodgy and when doing big 2nd gear burnouts it was hard to change direction as the rear wheels started pointing in the same direction as the front wheels so all it wanted to do was crab down the road.

HICAS was removed by the time I got around to some skidpan drifting so can't comment on before and after.

So thats why it does that when doing burnouts!! Everything makes sense now lol.

HICAS is always used as scape goat for crap driving but it does make the car feel squirelly....certainly wont make you lose it but at the end of the day predictability is what your after so best bet is to bin it.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
