Tein: 3.1/3.8 6.8% 22%

Nismo: 3.8/4.4 31% 42%

they are the rates, you can get teins from access autoworks on here, i trust them, have been to there store, no probs.

or nismo's from nengun or RHDjapan.

the whiteline group buy springs on here are just

34gtr front

32gtr rear

corrected, that is for a s1 rs4

hey mate cheers for the reply, but what exactly do those ratios mean?

Those are the spring rates, listed in kilograms per milllimetre and pounds per inch of travel

Example: the standard front springs need 2.9kgs of downward force to be moved 1mm (or 165lbs of force to be moved 1in).

Are the rear spring different for an RS4S? I remeber reading somewhere that they are different to the standard auto stagea.

Thanks

That's right, the RS4S has an R33 GT-R subframe for the rear suspension, and the way the shocks attach to the suspension at the bottom is different between auto and manual Stageas.

Also, RWD-only Stageas have different front suspension because (obviously) they don't need to account for a driveshaft going through the centre of the suspension and wheel hub.

with extra circlip grooves machined on your shocks you can get your stagea as low as you could ever want with the standard springs.

the spring rates on the RS4S seem to be decent as it is according to my bum-o-meter.

if you are buying whiteline springs just specify it is for a stagea.

Thanks, so just to confirm, To lower my RS4S I will need to order R33 GTR springs?

I have been reading up heaps on the suspension thread but there isnt much info on the RS4S

Cheers

Dave

i know theres a fair bit to read in the suspension thread but you maybe should have another look it's been covered to death, sedan springs going on a wagon is a much discussed topic, a bit of advice check out sk's suspension thread throughly....... everything you want to know.... goodluck.

All I am interested in is lowering it a little and want to keep that stock shocks, I have already spend a small fortune on the motor and dont race the car I just wanted it to sit a little lower to clean up the look.

Thanks

Dave

i know the exact feeling.

unfortunately we found the left front shock was leaking so the cheapest option in the long run was to replace the shocks but then we found there was no where near enough camber adjustment on the rear even with an aftermarket eccentric bush. with upper rear camber arms there is enough adjustment to get sensible rear camber settings. so one thing always leads to another...

ps. the rear of the stagea is at 365mm

    • 4 to 5 is fine. It will be slow, but that's better than blowing turbos. I don't have a PS pump idle up solenoid on my car, because... I think when we put the Neo in we retained my R32 lines. But.... From inspecton of the R34 vacuum hose diagram, you can see that the solenoid needs to be connected to the turbo inlet as source of clean air) and the plenum (as source of vacuum - which is the place for the air to flow to to cause the idle to increase). So 3 to 1 is VERY WRONG. 3 should go to either the turbo inlet, or the plenum. Follow the other hose from the PS solenoid and if it goes to the plenum, then your 3 goes to 2 2 would also serve as a bleed port for a boost solenoid.
    • Pull them out and pull more apart. You can't do shit with them still bolted to the floor of the car.
    • Yes it is. ZD1 is on the other side of the board. Where ZD1 is marked is clearly opposite a 2 pin device. Our 3 pin device here is not a ZD.
    • Alright, a little update on this... I called Fulcrum, who used to be the distributor in Australia. No Bueno, they don't service them anymore.  Called shock works, who don't service them but offered to dyno the shocks for performance, and suggested DNA in Sydney might service them.  Called DNA, who also do not service them and basically said they try to steer customers away from tein for this exact reason these days- there is just no support for them anymore apparently.  Both SW and DNA said they are a not necessarily a bad product, but they just don't service the brand or know anyone who does service the brand anymore.  So... I could keep calling around but at this point I think I'll probably just spring for the shockworks product, unless anyone here knows anything.  Cheers 🍻
    • That's not a transistor --- it's marked ZD1 which makes it a zener diode. As to what the breakdown voltage is, not enough there to divine.
