I'm looking at buying the Blazer style carbon fibre bonnet from PSI parts.

Mentioned in here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...ts-t229104.html

If anyone has bought one of these, can you please upload a photo to show it off?

The pic from PSI Parts isnt the best:

Is it just a fibreglass with a layer of CF or is it full CF, probably not for that price eh?

I wouldn't worry about too tough myself...

I'm tempted to replace my current fibreglass bonnet with this one...

Bump!

Surely someone must have bought this bonnet...!

you'll have to give me some time dude, still trying to convince myself that yes I need a different bonnet after already going through the pain of installing aerocatches & getting my FG one painted...

But as soon as I get it I'll send you a picture... The war inside my mind shouldn't take too long, the 'Buy it' side usually wins. hehehe

My 'war' was won when one of my mates accidentally backed his ute a little too far... into my car :miner: . lucky was a ute cos the hoods all he got. Anyway, ordered the blazer CF hood. Went to all the trouble of convincing the NTGov, managed to get a letter from the NT roads authority to say they're cool with it  (which is still in post apparently). The hood arrived this morning, will be putting it on tonight. Should be able to post pics some time this week. :P

I like it, but I wonder if there is any chance of getting the vents blocked off with removable bits so you can block the holes for when it rains... I really dislike the rain not that I have a vented bonnet... So I block them when I don't need the extra cooling...

I'd be interested to see what PSI had to offer or suggest on the subject of removable blocking plates on vented bonnets. I'm so tempted by this bonnet though looks nice... then I would also have an excuse to get more carbon bits...

ohh carbon eyelids to go with the bonnet, carbon chin or lower front spolier with canards, carbon rear wing, carbon sideskirts, come on PSI get more 33gtst carbon bits, tempt me...

the pics don't do it justice really (camera phone)

Im thinkin of getting some fenders on the car, possibly the veilside style, sprayed the cars silver, widen it up a bit, should contrast it a bit better make the bonnet appear a little smaller and the CF-black-ish a little less controlling

plus gonna do the clear indicators, get rid of the orange on side and front, should look schmick then

I was thinking about the rain, where the vents are anything electrical underneath seems covered or wrapped up.

asked a few people what they reckon, i.e. other engineers like myself, mechanics etc. they reckon I should be alright, but we do get some pretty heavy downpoors in the wet, which should start in a few weeks if that

guess I'll find out

I was actually considering one, but definitely not a fan anymore

What in these pics changed your opinion Dezz?

I'm still undecided, its the rear look i dont like, looking into the vents, and also concerned re water issues.

Without wanting to take away from Blayz's car (he likes how it looks and thats all that matters), the pics of it on his car just don't do anything for me whatsoever. I think it looks so appealing in the PSI photos because its so shaded, and the lack of front bar....one of the toughest photos (imo) of my own car is when it had the front bar and intercooler removed...plastic bags over the piping and all....

I think its just how dark it looks...same with the PSI pic

personally i like the bonnet, however it would only suit a car that is tough already.

A standard kit and car not lowered just wont cut it. Anything fat like trust/doluck/jun front and the rest to match would look awesome

hmm, I was actually looking at the do-luck or JUN kits from PSI, maybe a mix n match of the 2, but will have to save a bit for painting and fitting and delivery up here

maybe in a months time or so

have 2 make do for the time being

So not Mean/Aggressive enough for ya?

maybe its just the stock front bar doesn't match up and takes away from the overall look. When I first saw the PSI pics, I wanted one. Now that I've seen it on Blayz's car I'm not very interested at all...Must be the lack of front bar in the PSI pic....

    • Yes I can see how that would put you off HFM, especially with the price of good quality brake fluid. From what I understand it as you say the BM50 is the standard BMC for a R32 GTR, I must admit I would like to go far a Genuine Nissan BM57, but lack of cash prevents that at present. With the price being so close between the genuine BM50 and BM57 a BM57 New it seems a better choice as you gain that 1/16 bore size with the BM57, I would be interested in how much difference you feel with the BM57 fitted. I am going to take SteveL's advice in the short term and see how much actually comes out of that proportioning valve vent and save up for the Genuine Nissan part. Thanks for clarifying the HFM failure
    • Thanks mate. I just got the post inspection 1/2 done from state roads when the starter motor packed up, either that or the car alarm system is having trouble.  OEM part number 23300-AA112.
    • Hi, I though I was coming to an end in finding a replacement starter motor for a rb25de neo. I came across a starter motor from Taarks and a message below stating: Direct fit. 11 Tooth count. All below part numbers have been superseded to 11 teeth. Can some body shed some light on going from 8 teeth to 11 teeth apart from 36-month / 25,000 km warranty for passenger vehicles to 12 Month Warranty. Compatible with the following Nissan part numbers: 23300-20P00 23300-20P01 23300-20P05 23300-20P10 23300-20P11 23300-AA111 23300-AA112 23300-AA300 23300-08U10 23300-08U11 23300-08U15
    • Low battery? Maybe check capacity? I know first-hand, on BMWs if your battery drops below 80% capacity, it starts causing strange issues.
    • 8.5 +37 = should fit rear, but I think it'll hit on front. What you want is low 30s/high 20's front, mid 30's rear. That 17" screenshot you posted looks good, I'd run it on my R32 (but that's long dead now). For tyre sizes, my rule of thumb is: 8': 235, 9": 255. But that's just my opinion. Nismo sizes: 18x8.5+35/18x9.5+38 is a good starting point.
