hello everyone..

as per the topic title... i did it... i got up the courage, prepared myself for the worst and went for it..

and she said yes! :D

what?? did you all think i proposed?? hahaha, im an idiot, but i aint stupid.

its been 3 long years since i gave up my skyline addiction cold the sphincter of the universe..

but im now a bit older, a bit wiser, and dont have quite as much money to blow on cars.. shes giving me a chance to show i can be trusted with another skyline.

so im on the lookout for a clean... lightly modified R32 gtst.. around the 10g mark..

im still allowed to drift it, and modify for it more for drift.... but its not allowed to be a drift pig unfortunatly.

man ive missed skylines... i miss the sounds and the feel of driving one, and heading out at 2am for a putty run to windsor maccas for breakfast and then back again... those were the days.

i havent been on this site since i sold my 33 in november '05 and ive missed it ever since, but i was getting in waaaaaay too much trouble and had spent waaaaaaay too much money on it.

its great to see so many new names... and its great to see some familiar old ones.

cheers

Linton

I really hope to see you at some events soon :D

I'm sure you will have no troubles finding a car you like.

haha... it was 50-50 on the skyline thing... she loved the car.. but not me going out at 3am, and it was a cop target and my numberplate was on a list with others at the cop shop, i was going nuts in it and bound to end up with it gone, or me in jail, or worse, so it had to go. that was a long time ago now though.. ive grown up alot.

since the skyline though, i had a 300rwkw VY SS ute... and after that, an 02' WRX wagon, with 160awkw.

the rex drifted better than the ute... hahaha, damn holdens.

cheers

Linton

and i hope i do have a car by the 19th... that would be great... gotta sell my bikes first though..

so if anyone wants a 2003 Kawaskai KX250 motocross bike - $3800

or a 1999 WR400 enduro bike (with Rego and Leaner legal) - $4500

i cant wait to get to some events... last one i went to was the show n shine at the entrance in 2005 i think. too long.

she enjoys it plenty enough just cruising in the passenger seat, thank you very much for putting ideas in her head.. haha, just kidding, but nobody drives my cars under any circumstance, not even her, she is aware of this.

the 25th... hmmm... i have a bit more time up my sleeve.... excellent.

cheers

Linton

you worried they might prang it or something? thats what insurance is for...

when i had no licence my mates drove my skyline, they loved it... i loved being in the passenger seat as i trusted them as a driver and your car feels much faster when your in the passenger seat

my ex drove it too, she loved it, learnt to pothole dodge, sideways driveway and burn people off lights...

ay even sammeh has driven the S4 along with a string of other people and everyone has loved it... i think i have converted him...

fair enough i wont let people drive it that i dont trust, or that will screw me if they smashed it... but everyone else can go for it...

try it linton, you might enjoy it!

Big linton - how are things going?

Still working out? Glad to see you got back into the skylines.

You will have to come give me a spin in your new car once you get it and have set it up how you want!!

Talk to you soon.

Dave.

haysey, thats fine for you mate.. and im all for insurance.. but most of my mates dont a lazy $2000 to cough up for my excess or repairs if something goes wrong.. and they also get to drive away in their own car, meanwhile im stuck with a damaged car to be repaired, whether they pay for it, organise, it, do it themselves, whatever, im still without a car. it also comes down to the fact that its my car.. i pay for it, i want it, i like it, i dont need to show it off to anyone, i dont need to prove anything to anyone, if my mrs wants a skyline to drive... she has a job, she can get a loan like everyone else, or save up and get her own. she prefers manolos though. i prefer to think about the worst before doing something... rather than sit there, smoke coming from the bonnet, front all smashed up, and have someone say "sorry mate, i wasnt expecting that to happen", having said that... i dont drive mates cars either, even if they want me to, because i cant afford their excess or repairs.

guilt toy, yes you did sell me that t3/t4 vg30det, hybrid, imbred, monged up turbo and farrrrrrrk me did it hammer with it... 3rd gear wheelspin coming on boost at 4500rpm.. the next owner after me took it off as it was a bit too much for him to handle. the injectors were nearly 100% with the bosch pump and shitloads of fuel pressure... i did the dodgy and cranked the ecu up to near on max fuel and then leaned it out with boost... i dont know how the engine didnt go bang. ahhh to be young and stupid again.

hey dave,

yeah still hitting the gym, i go to finance first at kotara now. i work my way up to 80kg then something happens and i cant go for a month and i drop back to 75 or less. soo frustrating. i just wanna crack 80kg.

i saw you at coles at the junction the other day, you just walked in as i was on my way out over the other side with lots of shopping, didnt have time to trek over and say gday, wanted to though. you can tag along on the putty cruise if you want, hopefully should have one by then... are you still looking for a trail bike?? i got 2 for sale.

cheers

Linton

hehehee

I will never forget that turbo, i built it out of scrap turbo's that i had given to me and purchased the front housing, it was the maching and rebuild costs that cost all the money.

it was a great turbo for what it was...

Vg30 .71 rear

Hitachi RX7 rear wheel (cropped) and core

T4 .50 front housing and wheel

was a drift turbo from hell :P

glad to see ya back mate

    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
    • OK, if it idles at 1000+ with the AAC, its not an idle airflow problem. The cold start valve just gives extra air when the engine is cold, but you have enough air without it to idle at 1000. I think you are back to a fuel problem, sorry. Can you see the fuel pressure staying constant or does it drop as the revs drop to a stall?
