Don't race it uses more petrol, and the cost of that will soon out weigh the fine anyway!

But yeah, your age, most places want you to do a defensive driving course before an advanced (which teaches you skidcontrol) I'd strongly suggest you do both. Can help reduce your insureance as well in some cases, also looks good on your resume.

If your tyres are speed rated to 140kmh... I dare say they aren't very good, I'd be saving up for some new ones that might be a little better.

As everyones been saying, head out to willowbank, just get out there early to maximise your runs. Its $36 and includes a passenger. So 3 times heading out there is the cost of 3 speeding fines???

I thought people only double clutched in old cars and in new cars its just pointless.

i dare you to try and drive my car without double clutching and rev matching on the down shifts......

If you like Drifting too I would be more then happy to show you things I have leaned, and chuck you around in the passanger seat.

can i take u up on that offer 2 please. lol

I'm a P plater

i am 2 mate, the difference between us is the law isn't retrospective, i drive turbo'd model,

i'v raced 1 person and i won't do it again, it scared the shit out of me personally, r

it's just not worth it bud, forget it.

$3,500 a year for normal insurance with Just Car

also how old are u exactly, they wanted 2 charge me $3000 for a 95 turbo'd model,

i dropped my premium (bad spelling) by increasing my excesses, so i got the premium down to $1500 upfront.

pls do yourself and every1 around u a favour, get full comprehensive insurance.

Damn you guys get ripped on insurance these days!! Full comp on my old 33 (turbo, exhaust but otherwise stock at the time) cost me $750 or so from memory, when I was 20. That was a while ago though *cry*

stop racing commodore drivers before you have an accident ;)

Hey Beau, I can I take you up on that one day? :)

Ofcourse , I love showing off , just have to be wearing the right stuff and come up and say hello at QR or Archy (no pass at parklands)

Beau it'd be great if you could show me how to drift. I was thinking of taking my car drifting and stuff but i know nothing about it and i don't want to damage my car. Also what is the skidpan? How much does it cost to take your car to these places?

Skidpan is a barricaded carpark that is watersprayed at QR drift nights , to teach new drifters car control in a car and person safe environment for $50

look in events section for the next meeting

And as above just come and see me at the track and I will be more then happy to take you out on the big track , my name is on the car it's a dark blue R32 skyline 4 door with a 34 front end blue tacked to the front!

Beau

    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.
    • Hi all,   long time listener, first time caller   i was wondering if anyone can help me identify a transistor on the climate control unit board that decided to fry itself   I've circled it in the attached photo   any help would be appreciated
    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
