I have done some searches on here and only really find stuff to do with r32 gtr. Is this different to r32gtst abs. I have just competed in the Motorkhana on dirt and had trouble stopping in time at the finish due to the ABS kicking in and out. I was thinkin about removing it.

Is this a big job do i need to worry about anything else being affected. Ie hicas. I also want to lock that should i do it all at once. Is there anything i need to consider before doing it. Pros and cons of doing this. Is there a fuse that i can just remove.

I just dont like the peddle feel i have never driven with ABS before and really prefer the feel knowing when things will lock up and how much peddle to press. If that makes sense i would love some assistance in this matter.

The ABS is supposed to "kick in and out". It is not designed to work on dirt. If anything, you want the wheels to stay locked - the pile of dirt that builds up under the tread assists stopping.

Rather than remove the ABS, try learning "threshhold braking".

ABS locks on then off then on then off and the peddle was getting a mad shutter which i was told from people there that that is the abs kicking in as i was sliding along the dirt. I did not like it at all. Would prefer no abs at all.

It's easy to do, even with ABS. I've only activated the ABS maybe twice on my GTS4. First time was on the racetrack, shortly after I got the car. Second when I was out with a mate, and would have run up his arse if I didn't get the ABS working.

Generally, I know how hard I can press the pedal without activating the ABS.

Yeah the R32 ABS is rubbish - you will stop better without it if you know what you are doing.

On the other hand, doing 110km/hr on the freeway in rain, i'd rather know the ABS is there for that situation. Not sure, but it might be possible to set up a system so you can turn it on or off depending on road/track etc. use.

just pull the abs fuse in the engine bay fuse box, i pulled mine after taking car on track first time, and just put it back in when back on the road, other bad thing about ABS is it basically gives you no brakes when going backwards, it just forces the pedal back at your foot

Just piss it off. I have run off the track a few times because I have forgotten to remove the abs fuse so I just leave it out now. The R32 abs reacts so slow. You try and modulate the pedal but it doesn't turn off and it doesn't stop you either. Its useless. Just full the fuse in the engine bay to disengage it. If it doesn't help you stop quicker on the track or on a slippery skid pan it not going to help on the road (wet or dry). You can run a gtst non abs master cyl and lines to remove it completely.

For the comment I know where the threshhold is I think you are touching yourself a little. Different road grip and smoothness of the road effects how hard you can brake.

If you can't hear and feel the wheels starting to lock up occasionally combined with modulating the pedal your not pushing hard enough is my opinion with a 32.

    • After using a protractor for an actually accurate assessment of what is required,  and by NOT using my uncalibrated eyeball I worked out I need a 25° silicone bend from the TB ro the MAF, but, my choice was either a 30° or a 23° (23° is a weird spec), so I grabbed the 23° one from Raceworks I also grabbed 1mtr of 3" straight from Just Jap, I needed 350mm, but they only had 300mm, or 1mtr lengths....meh Also ordered a 1/2" hose bulkhead fitting from fleabay, this has a smoothish mushroom looking head (they are designed for below the water line of boats) that will fit inside the bend, the hose bit and threaded bit looks to long, but nothing that a hacksaw cannot fix if required, the hose will then just get jamed on the threaded bit up to the retaining nut Fingers crossed and the unsightly amount of hose clamps will be reduced down to 4 once all the parts arrive 
    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
