my son got done for a pod filter and fmic and was told to go to regency . i rang regency too book it in they asked what had it been done for they said neither of those items are defectable go too ya nearest police station get them to ring me he gave name and ph number .

we took the car to elizabeth police station told them the story they rang regency next thing they took the defect off without even looking at the car really still charged us 27 bucks tho lol .

trouble is half the coppers dont have a clue what there looking at and so too make themselves look good they slap on a defect and let you and regency sort it out

you can be defected for anything that is not standard on a vehicle.

that was strait from the/A horses mouth.

not to mention the fact that factory-stanard-straight-from-the-showroom-floor cars can be defected too. ie, rx8, eyebrow height.

Even if your car is completely legal they can still send you to regency for a "suspected" defect but that doesn't happen very often to my knowledge.

thats exactly what i got defected on

i was defected on a "suspected suspension damage"

ok guys for those of you that are just of your p plates, any car that comes out gets manufactured with certain specifics, this is called being standard, anything added or modified is called being changed, therefore isnt standard so is deemed to be allegal. its at this point in time when if u want to change the way the car comes out standard, then u need to go get raped in the a## from the government and pay through the nose to get a engineers certificate which states the mod and shows it has been made to a safe and acceptable standard(by certain legal boundaries/rules). Anything modified or changed that has not had this done is therefore running the risk of defect, depending on how the cops day has been,or how you deal with getting pulled over.

A few people have said, itl be ok if you just take it easy they will leave you alone,id love to believe that was true, although anyone thats owned a done up car before knows that you may get away with this for a while, but it just takes that one cop that you havent seen yet, that doesnt like the way you or your car looks, and its regency time thankyou very much. engineer certs cost and arm and a leg,but worth it if you can get one,on that note anyone know one ha ha

The very best thing to happen...ever....was cars being defected for Turbo Timers.

The most dangerous and dumb modification the world has ever seen :)

Why is that??

Not saying your wrong by any means but would like to know why you or anyone else thinks that turbo timers are a waste of time.

turbo timers are legal (and good) for work vehciles that are over 2.5T, such as delivery vehciles, generally diesel, stopping and going all day etc, enables engine to keep running with doors locked etc while delivery man does his 5min job.

on a sports car they are illegal. how dangerous is it, do you think, when you pull up to the fuel pump, car is still running Seven Minutes later cause of a massive hills run, and you decide to fill up the tank anyway because there is now a que behind you........ or a kiddie playing in the car in the driveway, with another kiddie behind the car, once daddy races home from work and jumps into the shower..... think about it.

Not needed for sports cars, slow down for the last 5kms of your trip and dont boost it. Simple.

makes me lol when people drive their cars on the street and just cruising around then let their turbo timer stay on for a few minutes, its so pointless, unless your hills thrashing or on the track ya turbo's just wont get that hot.

Why is that?? Not saying your wrong by any means but would like to know why you or anyone else thinks that turbo timers are a waste of time.

In the case of a major accident where your vehicle is disabled, and you are trapped in said vehicle, the turbo timer will in most cases keep the fuel pump running to ensure that you and your passengers are killed by the resulting Turbo Timer fed fuel inferno - in the instance the initial impact didnt get you in the first place :w00t:

As I tell anyone that asks, if you cant drive quietly for the last 1km or so before you park the car, or cant understand the concept of a cool down lap, you dont have the intelligence and necessary mechanical aptitude to own a turbocharged car. Look at another form of motorised transport rather than adding a Turbo Timer :P

As a side note Turbo Timers are also excellent for car thieves - "Here is my main switched Ignition Wire come get me"

    • No chop chop of anything mate, it is what it is, plus, I don't want any air that isn't either going through the cooling stack or intake getting into the engine compartment increasing under bonnet pressure  Yeah, the Mazda Speed aftermarket intake above is less than ideal for multiple reasons, the requirement to remove the bumper every time you need to service the filter, and also smaller in diameter than the NC1 OEM one Weirdly, Mazda Speed is part of the Mazda motorsport division, "form over function" and $$$$$ for Mazda from unsuspecting punters I suspect  After some googling about them it seems they added no power, but do increase some induction noise Meh In other news, the electricians have been busy today at the house, and are back tomorrow finishing up all the security stuff and exterior lighting, they also added some lighting on the garage ceiling, which will come in handy when working in the garage when it's not freezing out there My Birdies raised garden bed also arrived today as well, which I'll put together and place tomorrow, it's a big tall Bessie, 74cm high, 92cm wide and 214cm long, this will come in handy as I am starting to get "stockpiles" of good soils from doing landscaping, some of the clean rock, namely the river stone, will go into the bottom of the bed for drainage, as well as the old Apricot tree that was out the back,  and when it's full, I'll grab another one, I will be growing enough veggies to keep me both busy as well as supplementing the shopping list I'm also awaiting another quote for a new Colourbond front fence, as the "1980 style cemented in rock edging" that was there and "fashionable at the time" looked arse, and my god, the amount of cement used to fix the rock was insane, it took 1.5 days for me to break out 12 meters of the stuff by hand, trim the bushes back to the fence line and dump it out the back of the joint to deal with at a later date,I will soon need a skip bin to tip it all Unfortunately they did alot of the cemented in rock around the joint, which I hate, so a few pallets of retaining wall blocks for around the front and back where the cemented in rock is will be required to bring it up to a standard, and look, that I will be happy with 12 meters worth of rock and cement Finished smashing the fence line and ready for a fence to be installed, yes, the lawns need some TLC and thickness, the previous owner trimmed the grass to the roots 😢, the TLC I can provide, and nature over time will do the rest And there's probably about another 40 meters worth of this landscaping abomination left to do around the front and back gardens, I'm guessing maybe 3 or 4 tons worth, tip fees for this will be a killer Meh, all in all I'm having fun and keeping busy, plus, it's good PT

    • Just cut the bottom of the guard out. It's no longer got a big duct, to a sealed box, or a restriction. It has all the cold air from outside. Also, that cai you showed looks terrible. Bends are NOT good for go gos!
    • Like I said, "black magic" LOL In the end,  it is what it is, and hopefully, what this here knuckle head has done is an improvement and not a hindrance Not that I actually notice any negatives now, or that I will get any seat of the pants benefits when all is said and done, but best practice says I shouldn't be pulling intake air from the hot engine bay  Famous last words: I cannot see it being any worse than what it is at the moment 🤔
