Hey Everyone-

Just wondering, i Have a black r43 and was wondering what your thoughts are about purple neons to match... yes my girlfriend has gone ahead and bought the interior ones but they can easily be rplaced. i dont really mind the idea of purple as it will be different, but on the same note i dont want to give the impression that my girlfriend is dolling up my car (i have already had people ask if playboy seat covers are next).. any input is good so please help... if you hav any pics of cars with purple neons that would be great too

Cheers

If you're modding it to suit YOUR likings, then do it. If you're modding to show off/eye candy for others, probably not so much. (If that makes sense)

Totally agree.

If you want to do it becasue you want to be noticed by others, you will not get a positive response from Police and most people think it's pretty ricer/ugly/fast & furious.

Please don't take offense to the replies, think of it as constructive criticism as they are actually giving you good advice.

PS: Are you Daniel's brother? lol

under dash or floor neons are fine there not really visible from outside and can be handy for lighting purposes. Blue would be better but purple would look fine.

Just no under neons and i think your safe.

Just make sure the globes are hidden looks tacky when you can see the globes.

Totally agree.

ahaha no im his cousin though.. good pick up

If you want undercar lights, the ones on my car id be happy to sell. They are Varad Brand, they morph through "1000 colours", they have patterns, they hook up to music etc etc etc. They are in a square polycarbonate tube and the LED's they use are different to what you can buy here. (these came out of america and cost $900...or very close to it)

If your interested, you can have a look at them one night as they are fitted to my car still. For the right offer, i would be happy to sell them as ive sort of out grown them....having said that, im not an "undercar light hater" lol

If interested, let me know.

mmm each to their own i guess my bro used to have red neons and they did look cool but meh he doesn't evne use them LOL i wreckon their rice but as i said each to their own don't let ne one stop ya from slapping on purple neons :P

Generally I think blue is the best neon colour, have those on my computer (riced com ftw :P), but yeah like what most people have said, not many people are fans of neons & having a neon is like putting up a neon sign saying "come & defect me" to the cops.

My mum thinks neons are cool though... :D she even wanted me to put neons underneath my car.

EDIT: typo

My former Pulsar's audio install.

Products used are from a brand called ICELED. 2.1 million colours, controlled by various controllers, lots of wanky features. Best LED stuff on the market (from the UK). Very expensive though with 1ft LED tubes costing over $100 each, and undercar kits at $1500.

As someone said, interior neons or LEDs can enhance the interior look. I liked them for that same reason, and also made taking interior photos of the car much more appealing. You can however go down the wrong path, however done right it can be a winner.

As 'for show' and 'showing off' not a good idea...I remember taking the Pulsar to an 'all performance' car cruise a couple years ago, and funny thing is that everyone was standing around looking at the Pulsar, recording clips on their phones etc. No one cared to look at the drift spec, high performance cars as there is nothing to look at when they have their bonnets and doors closed. Times have changed I know, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Pulsar could pull a similar crowd now if the gear was still in there.

Do i have lights in my R, no...but would I do it if I had the right opportunity (say if I did the retrim I had planned for the car), yes I would. Plus I'll make sure to have the hp to back up the lights :P

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
