there are many different styles.. when im in competitions i dont have my hands up either.. i like inviting the person in to have a hack.. if ure quicker and u know it.. why not flaunt it?? to say that it wasnt boxing was hmmm .. he has his own style.. and as much as we all know he is a tool in person.. he is a great athlete no one can deny him that..

Perhaps if he came out from the bell doing that, but he didn't.

He came out with a full guard, and tried to box properly... By the 4th round, he had reverted back to his instincts which were not honed from professional boxing.

He completely dropped his guard and was just basically backtracking throughout the entire fight.

Whatever. That was just a fcuked fight.

The undercard Gurkan Ozkan fight was eleventy BILLION times more entertaining...

I've seen Ozkan fight many MANY fights as a kickboxer and he's excellent, but he's still reverting back to his karate and kickboxing roots where he just loads up his right hand and leads with his left as a distraction... Doesn't work as well when you don't have your legs to follow through as well though...

But DAMN he's entertaining :)

I watched the fight with the nephew of Ozkan's trainer and they reckon he'll be the next one to take on Danny Green. He knocked Mundine out of the ring in training last week and Mundine threw a hissy fit... HAHAHAHAHA...

Anyway... Should be interesting to see how Ozkan's boxing career goes.

I boxed for 6 years, when I was younger, how many years boxing experience do you have?

...and maybe if you were any good at "boxing", you'd still be be doing it??? :)

... and that's all Mundine was doing. Hands down, no guard and throwing wild jabs from the sides whilst backtracking constantly... He was even backtracking in the LAST ROUND!!!! That was *NOT* boxing.

must've been a helluva lot of lucky wild jabbing going on considering he won on a *points* decision. and dont you get points from actually landing punches?

mundine was the better fighter, 3 judges recognised that. your version of boxing must be totally different to everyone elses. i think you should go back to watching UFC video's. its obvious it wasnt entertaining for you because you didnt see more blood and guts.

andrew.. saying all this..

he played by the rules.. and he won..

i agree with u completely about nearly everything u said funnily enough.. BUT..

if there is a fighter who is physically stronger.. u need to rely on ure skill and speed to come out ahead.. and mundine did that.. he used his speed..

for mundine to be as quick as he is.. he sacrifice's some power.. the stronger u are the slower u are usually..

i still dont see after ure 6 years boxing experience u cant appreciate that.. ure basically saying if someone isnt strong enough to knock the other person out.. that its not boxing and there not worthy.. hmmm

I was okay at boxing... But I like to cross train, so that's why I've trained in BJJ, Judo and now Karate... I like using my legs as well as my hands.

I didn't say Mundine was lucky. Why put words in my mouth?

Did I not say in my VERY FIRST POST that I acknowledged that Mundine was a quick little bastard? I believe I did. Thank you.

Using that speed, and the "backtrack backtrack jab, backtrack, bracktrack jab" technique has was able to land more scoring punches than Eckles, who from the outset was looking for a KO. He even announced that he was going to try and knock Mundine out in the 5th round..... Pity he couldn't catch him :) :bahaha:

Mundine wasn't the "better fighter" by a long shot. He just landed more scoring punches and based on that, the judges had to give him the decision, and I agree with the decision.

There is no way in HELL that Mundine is a better boxer though.

merli you slugger!!!!

seems as though you rate boxers by their one-punch capabilities. i don't. there are many ways to skin a cat - look at Ali? he had a knockout punch, he was fast, and he also used the rope-a-dope technique (endured plenty, showed stamina) - he's an all round boxer.

to say mundine is not the better boxer is in my opinion unfair.

its just like, i can't play ping pong players who spin the ball alot. i'll have a better chance at someone who just plays with power. does it mean the bloke who spins the ball alot is not a good player? i dont think so...

andrew..he is the better boxer.. Eckles didnt keep his cool .. even u said.. mundine frustrated him and put him off his game.. u should know boxing isnt just about hitting.. and with boxing the mental discipline isnt as developed as say with some of the martial arts..

u said so ure self... mundine realised he couldnt match it with eckles.. he had the composure to change his style to do whatever it took to win.. Eckles didnt.. Hence Mundine won..

At the end of the day there is plenty of what if's .. should have's.. but mundine walked away with the win :).. not the pretiest win.. but a win nevertheless

coudnt have said it any better franks..

u play ping pong :) ill give u a game :) but ure not alloweed to use ure power :D u have to play spin or ure not a real ping pongerer!! hahahhah

we seem to be stuck with this pretty way of winning??? can't we admire a boxer for their ability to evade punches just as much as their ability to deliver a knock out punch???

bruce lee was a person who had a totally different way of fighting to the norm, he defined his art and was successful at it. was he not playing by the rules? was it less pretty than the norm?

julius erving played "above the rim" in basketball and changed the traditional way of the sport. was this not playing by the rules? was he less pretty than the norm?

I didn't really understand that ping pong analogy, but I think I know what you meant anyway :)

And for the record, UFC > boxing :)

I was pleased that mundine won the fight. He makes it very hard to like him though. I mean that crap with keeping Echols waiting in the ring, and bringing in dancers? That's just rude. Also, all that 'celebrating' after the final bell, I found it distasteful, he hadn't yet won the fight, decisions have been known to not always go the way you think. He needs to get some basic bloody manners. I respect his 'talent' as a boxer, but he is not much of a man.

Mundine celebrated before the FINAL BELL rang, let alone the decision. He celebrated with 10 seconds to go in the fight, and ran away from Eckles with time left on the clock.

After asking the ref, Eckles had to chase after Mundine and try to resume the fight, but Mundine would have nothing to do with it, just looking over at his corner with his hands up in the air...

hahah definately agreed.. ufc at the begginging was the best.. but now its hmm a bit of a joke..

Yeah, UFC is too commercialised now... I still have lots of VCDs of the early UFC tournaments...

HOOOOOO BOY, you wouldn't want to meet some of those guys in a back alley :)

I think mundine is a good fighter but not as good as he thinks he is. There is no real talent is his weight division. If he wants a good fight and prove to the world he is so good change divisions and fight Roy Jones Jn. i bet that fight would last a good two minutes before mundine has his head smashed it. Also why doesn't he fight green??? that guy is probably one of, or the, best fighter australia has ever seen and offered mudine $500,000 to fight but still mudine refuses.

I didn't watch the fight but seriously, good on mundine for winning. He's worked his arse off and he probably deserves it.

Oh and I see we are talking about the UFC. The first time i saw that I couldn't believe it. The best fights I have ever seen. If you want somehthing good download the best knockouts of UFC. Some HHUUGGEE hits there.

Oh and one more thing the reason why he celebrated was because he knew he won. Each round the judges rule the points and the fighters know what points they received. The only way mudine was to loose on points was if he was knocked down 4-5 times in the last round which was highly unlikely. I may be wrong but I was pretty sure of this anyway

MUNDINE IS THE MAN.......he won and that s that. It really surprises me that some of you would rather support a Yank than our own. I've seen Mundine on a few interviews and I bet you he would be a genuine guy and all the talk is just for hyping people up.

and Ozcan must have made all the goat lovers proud.

    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
