I did see the driver enough to describe his age, ethnicity etc and it had personalised plates. In relation to Where I perform Laser duties I don't see that I would need permission to give out that iformation. I have at least 3-4 other streets in my area that I sit also and TMU and other members have 100's of others so naming one spot in a thousand I highly doubt will worry anyone.

I am not saying that I would be successful in tracking them down or even if do find them I agree It would be unlikely to prosecute but I still think it's worthwile to try to track them down.

Reality is could look into further charges not just traffic related. That much over speed limit in middle of day in busy industrial area could speak to them about charges similiar to conduct endangering life. Not unreasable to have truck pull out of Driveway in front of them etc

How will you prove his speed though? Do the laser units that you use keep a log?

What other things would you actually look at charging the individual for? I'm keen to hear what it would fall under in regards to the Victorian road laws.

If you know his age and nationality why wouldnt you look up all Yellow GT3's

Filter it down to those owners who fall in the given age group

Then filter it down again to those with personalised plates?

Maybe make a fancy graph also and show it to people at the station. They'll see you're a hard worker and will probably give you a cool nickname like "graphy-grapherson."

i will swap you the details only if!... u get me.... a shrubbery! once you have the shrubbery with a nice little path down the middle, you must cut this tree down.... with a herring!

Haha love it.

*officer pulls over gt3 porsche* " it's just a flesh wound!" *officer impounds porsche* "alright we'll call it a draw".

I've seen cops on several occasions sitting on ferntree gully road with the radar, so many times that I'm very conscious of them every time I round the corner. By night they sit in the median strip and shoot their "LASER" at the corner so they'll have your speed before you see them. During the day they sit on the chesterfield farm side of the road and just poke out down the side of the roadworks.

Contacted Porsche Dealership and possibly under 10 Yellow GT3 sold in last couple of years. Will get onto Vic Roads next week and try to get list of same. Fairly hard as I doubt they would put them in sepatare category so list probably include all Yellow Porsche's. Bit like GTR just is listed as nissan skyline.

I already have a "cool" Nickname at work and my boss already impressed at how hard I work. Have most arrests at station by mile and in top 3 for penalty notices issued. I just think you should work hard as we have no reason to do same there is no work performance awards. I could do 10% of what I do and actully finish on time for once but that's not what I'm about.

Laser Unit's don't save speed so it would be my word against their's in relation to that if it ever went to court.

You could possibly look at charges like Conduct Endangering Life, Driver manner dangerous, speed dangerous, careless driving, exceed speed limit and improper use re speed under new hoon laws.

Unless your nickname is Rabbit, Farva or Mack it ain't really a cool nickname....

And it doesn't count if it is a nickname you made up and introduce yourself to others with either... that's cheating

MEOW!

How long have you been in the force?

May I ask what section you work in? (I realise you would be reluctant to give out details but a general work area?)

These are OT questions so you could PM if you like.

What about if you just start calling yourself Donkey?

eee f**kin orr

to the OP. GL in finding the driver. I'm sure if he's smart enough to be able to afford a GT3 then he will be smart enough to know the law also ;)

glad to see our $$$ are going to well deserving hard working officers... why loathe a hang on something that happend... you didn't catch the guy.. get the f*** over it. i'm on the road 24/7, do you want me to report every tom dick and ha...... officer, isee breaking the law to you and you can then waste time trying to background check and csi investigate every one of them..

Hmmm maybe he is a cop, he did give a keep a look out call for the vehicle and he has now given more details that would allow him to narrow in on the car in question if it came to his attention.

BUT sadly the overriding fact pointing to him indeed being a brother in blue is that he prides himself on being, and i quote, 'top 3 most penalty notices given.'

Are you sure that you are not TOGS mate??? only those blokes pride themselves on actually hurting more than their quota.....

Is the OP doing posting this whilst on duty? Or is he doing this in his own unpaid time?

Hey i got an idea.

Find some real criminals who are raping/murdering/selling drugs/breaking into house/stealing cars/laundering massive amounts of money etc etc.

So a guy in a porsche decided to give it a squirt on the fast pedal...Meh. Yeah i realise that some one who didnt look before entering the road could have been crashed in to etc but it didnt happen....but what did happen is someone had their house broken in to somewhere. Good luck with your state revenue and reaching your "target".

I can't believe you guys are giving so much grief to a police officer trying to do the right thing. If you read this guy's previous posts you will discover he's actually very fair on us import drivers, yet you give him a hard time?

I agree that the title of the thread is wrong, but wanting to have a chat to the driver is pretty fair all things considered. All you guys in this club trying to protest your innocence and looking down on hoons and idiots who drive fast. As soon as someone actually wants to do something about it you give them a hard time. Most of you clowns are in WA unfortunately or I'd love to see the threads you create when he pulls your ass over. I'm sure more than a few Melbourne members would look upon him in a different light so if you have nothing nice to say, STFU.

endrant.

why be nasty about it? seems a bit hostile of you to take such a negative-zilchy stance on our replies.

In fact if anything, we have supported his exploration for answers.

    • I'm looking for some real world experiences/feed back from anyone who has personally ran a EFR7670 with a 1.05 exhaust housing or a .83 I'm leaning towards the .83 because its a street car used mostly for spirited driving in the canyons roads. I"m not looking for big numbers on paper. I want a responsive powerband that will be very linear to 8000 rpm. I dont mind if power remains somewhat flat but dont want power to drop off on top. The turbo I've purchased is a 1.05, although the mounting flange T3 vs T4 and internal vs external waste gates are different on both housings, I not concern about swapping parts or making fabrication mods to get what I want. Based on some of the research I've done with chat gpt, the 1.05 housing seems to be the way to go with slightly more lag and future proofing for more mods but recommends .83 for best response/street car setup. AI doesn't have the same emotions as real people driving a GTR so I think you guys will be able to give me better feed back 😀
    • Surely somebody has one in VIC. Have you asked at any shops?  Is this the yearly inspection or did you get a canary?
    • This is where I share pain with you, @Duncan. The move to change so many cooling system pieces to plastic is a killer! Plastic end tanks and a few plastic hose flanges on my car's fail after so little time.  Curious about the need for a bigger rad, is that just for long sessions in the summer or because the car generally needs more cooling?
    • So, that is it! It is a pretty expensive process with the ATF costing 50-100 per 5 litres, and a mechanic will probably charge plenty because they don't want to do it. Still, considering how dirty my fluid was at 120,000klm I think it would be worth doing more like every 80,000 to keep the trans happy, they are very expensive to replace. The job is not that hard if you have the specialist tools so you can save a bit of money and do it yourself!
    • OK, onto filling. So I don't really have any pics, but will describe the process as best I can. The USDM workshop manual also covers it from TM-285 onwards. First, make sure the drain plug (17mm) is snug. Not too tight yet because it is coming off again. Note it does have a copper washer that you could replace or anneal (heat up with a blow torch) to seal nicely. Remove the fill plug, which has an inhex (I think it was 6mm but didn't check). Then, screw in the fill fitting, making sure it has a suitable o-ring (mine came without but I think it is meant to be supplied). It is important that you only screw it in hand tight. I didn't get a good pic of it, but the fill plug leads to a tube about 70mm long inside the transmission. This sets the factory level for fluid in the trans (above the join line for the pan!) and will take about 3l to fill. You then need to connect your fluid pump to the fitting via a hose, and pump in whatever amount of fluid you removed (maybe 3 litres, in my case 7 litres). If you put in more than 3l, it will spill out when you remove the fitting, so do quickly and with a drain pan underneath. Once you have pumped in the required amount of clean ATF, you start the engine and run it for 3 minutes to let the fluid circulate. Don't run it longer and if possible check the fluid temp is under 40oC (Ecutek shows Auto Trans Fluid temp now, or you could use an infrared temp gun on the bottom of the pan). The manual stresses the bit about fluid temperature because it expands when hot an might result in an underfil. So from here, the factory manual says to do the "spill and fill" again, and I did. That is, put an oil pan under the drain plug and undo it with a 17mm spanner, then watch your expensive fluid fall back out again, you should get about 3 litres.  Then, put the drain plug back in, pump 3 litres back in through the fill plug with the fitting and pump, disconnect the fill fitting and replace the fill plug, start the car and run for another 3 minutes (making sure the temp is still under 40oC). The manual then asks for a 3rd "spill and fill" just like above. I also did that and so had put 13l in by now.  This time they want you to keep the engine running and run the transmission through R and D (I hope the wheels are still off the ground!) for a while, and allow the trans temp to get to 40oC, then engine off. Finally, back under the car and undo the fill plug to let the overfill drain out; it will stop running when fluid is at the top of the levelling tube. According to the factory, that is job done! Post that, I reconnected the fill fitting and pumped in an extra 0.5l. AMS says 1.5l overfill is safe, but I started with less to see how it goes, I will add another 1.0 litres later if I'm still not happy with the hot shifts.
