So I had the timing belts done and the mechanic found that one of the "lugs" on the end of the Cam has broken off and jammed into the distributor... ...Lucky for me it means that my car still runs because of the way the distributor locks into the cam... ...however under heavy load I get a little bit of a "chug chug"...

Last time I put my car on a dyno I got close to 150kws at the wheels... ...Which I'm told is quite good for a stock GTS25t...

So not knowing much about Cams... ...If I was to go for some upgraded Cams... ...What should I look for and what kind of power increase could I expect???...

It's also my daily driver so I don't want anything over crazy...

I can only assume that a dowel has broken off the front of the exhaust cam and worked its way into the cam angle sensor.

Very weird but hey, stranger things have happened?!

Just throw stock cams back into it. Unless you plan on doing some serious work to it in the near future, leave it as it is but obviously replace any broken bits.

I have standard RB25DET cams for sale if you need them I guess.

New genuine nissan cams are too expensive could buy some tomei or HKS step 1's for cheaper. Will change your powerband a bit but u get used to it.

second hand set from someone who replaced theirs is the best bet at probably a hundredish

I wouldn't personally consider moving to aftermarkets cams on a motor putting out 150kw....

You could probably pick up a cheap standard cam off the forums here from someone who has upgraded.

It is a bit of a dilemna though, because paying a mechanic to install a standard cam might be a bit of a waste of money (I'm guessing that you won't be doing it yourself).

I suppose the question is how far do you want to go - if you will eventually upgrade your turbo, might as well just do the cams first then?

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
