NOTE: check pinout to actual wiring pin diagram as i am pretty sure it is back to front (look for the pattern of the non conected pins between pin diagram and loom) thats the way i did it several years ago. If i remember correctly i redrew the diagram attached and highlighted the non connected wires and then matched them up to the actual pinouts on the loom. ps this will save you from ruining your diff computer if you get it muddled.

Problem:

You experience intermittent A-LSD fail on your dashboard after you have fitted an aftermarket ECU to your ECR33 Skyline.

This may be because the ECU you are using is not suited to the Active LSD model. It seems the stock ECU present on the Active LSD model cars performed a TPS signal relay to the ABS/ALSD computer in the boot. The Apexi PowerFC (and possibly others) don't relay the TPS signal and therefore the A-LSD system fails intermittently. Read below for instructions on how to correct this. Please note this involves tampering with your wiring loom. You need to make sure you cut and splice the correct wires, if you do it incorrectly it could be fatal to your ECU and/or Engine so please double check, triple check or get a mechanic or someone who is confident to do it if you are unsure.

Tools:

Wire Splicer + Pliers

Phillips Head Screwdriver

Electrical Tape

Soldering Iron + Solder (ideal)

1. Undo the kick panel and ECU braket and place the ECU on the floor

2. Locate wire #38 (TPS Signal) and expose some of it's copper wire (DO NOT CUT THIS WIRE, YOUR CAR WILL NOT RUN IF YOU CUT IT)

3. Locate wire #56 (To ABS/ALSD Computer) and cut it

4. Join the car loom end of wire #56 onto the exposed copper wire of #38

5. Tape up (or ideally solder) the join so its secure

6. Tape up wire #56 going into the ECU (one end goes into the ECU, the other end should go nowhere)

Start the car up, check for A-LSD errors and all is done.

Be sure to cut the correct wires and double check, use the pinout layout to work out which way you are looking at the ECU.

It's formation is 8pin, 10pin, 10pin, 10pin, so use this in accordance with the diagram to work out which way the ECU is facing.

Special thanks to;

T04GTR and Moanie for the extraordinary efforts in getting this problem solved. Thanks guys really appreciated.

wiring diagram for ecu pinouts

Special thanks to Moanie and Paullie who i beleive were the first to identify this fix as was posted several years ago.

This isnt gonna last long...

If i couldnt drive i wouldnt last long either! hhahhaa

and as for the previous posts... If you can tell me where the original post is such that other people who have a Vspec diff that goes into open wheel mode when hot can fix this problem (which is most annoying and prevents the car from performing properly ie sliding or coming out of corners properly at high speed) i would be very grateful. I could not find the original post anywhere. As it is, most people with that diff would find it helpful im sure.

Ps and some people dont have the time to bother to search and put it in the correct section where ever that may be, plus it still can be found easily on a search!

So you copied and pasted a random post into this section of SAU for what reason?

As per previous post if you can tell me where that is it would be much appreciated.... To help other people such that they can fix that problem.

Cheers Chris

Its in the forced induction section. You really are an idiot aren't you? What does this have to do with computer art? Absolutely nothing. And what makes you think that some one looking for information about an ALSD is going to look in the computer art section. Think about that for a second.

And it doesn't go into "open wheel mode" when hot, you don't even know what your typing, that modification to the ecu wiring is for aftermarket ecu's that dont send the TPS signal to the ecu for the diff. How do i know? Becuase i have one, unlike you.

Seriously man your starting to piss me off with both your threads.

    • HELP   Hey all, Is there an accelerator cable from another Nissan that can be used on the R33 GTST RB25DET with a Greddy forward facing plenum?  Thanks in advance  Rob
    • Or do we think it was installed to give 1 bar of boost max, all day, everyday?
    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
