Okay people here is my situation. I am in the process of rebuilding my rb26 and have come to a very touchy subject on the oil systems.. One place will say buy jun oil pumps and baffles and all the rest but another place will say the standard gear will be alright on my application...

Now here is what we're doing: wiseco 40thou pistons, acl race bearings, standard rods, standard crank but willl be 'chanfered'(can't spell) to hold more oil around the bearings, n1 water pump. The oil drive off the crank itself has about 20mm of clearence on the oil pump which makes me think i don't need a collar, as this is all you get with the oil crank collar anyway.

My car is currently making 330hp with cat back, injectors, pump and a nistune. I am most likely going to throw a set of cams in with this build plus full exhaust and then new turbo's a little down the line. So were looking down the barrel of about 400-450hp in the long run..

Ok here is the complicated part;

Mine and my mechanics opinion is we set up an oil feed from the head back to the sump and put a N1 oil pump on and we'll leave it at that. hopefully happy days :teehee:

A few people i have talked to straight away say jun oil pump, baffle plates and crank collars yadda yadda yadda etc.. :rofl:

So i am coming on here seeking out some people who know or have built my apllication and know which path i should be heading down. Any insight into this complex world would be appreciated

the std pump will pump enough oil around ur motor with the right amount of pressure...

ive decided to run a new std pump but with the trust extension and oil cooler setup which gives me an extra roughly 2-2.5lt extra of oil..

filled it up the other day and took just over 7lts of oil... the problem with the rb26 isnt oil not gettin around enough... its the oil doesnt return back to the sump fast enough... u can fix that by either puttin a reducer on the gallery that takes oil to the head, using a head gasket that has this already or modifying the returns on the actual head.. i did all 3 :P

The car wont ever starve of oil... unless i roll it upside down lol

Edit: forgot to mention... what year is the r32?? the later models (2/93>) already have a crank collar and use the same crank as the R33 GTR :teehee:

thats a massive bonus to help the std or n1 pumps from breaking @ high rpm

I would put a Group A sump in it you can get them I think from advan there about the best you

can get bar going dry sump set up.My mate had tomei sump extension and baffle kit and

still had oil problems (now on engine 3) oil preasure was fine in straight line but dropped when

hard cornering so to me that indicates sump problem.Also recommend rocker cover baffle kit

and oil catch can if dont already.N1 oil pump and drain on the back of the head is heading in

the right direction.Some people say in the R32 the crank shaft itself is no good and was

revised in the R33

sorry its a 1990 motor has done 86 thousand and the crank looks like glass, motor has not been out of the car at all.. See my mates crank collar had about 8mm if that when his shat itself and looking at mine it is pretty close to 20mm so thats why i'm thinking my drive is fine..

I'm most probably never going to take part in any sprint events just qtr mile and street driving...

so if i set up an oil feed from my head abck to the sump some new baffles and a restrictor as bumblebee put it. that should be finee for my application??

get someone with experience with the 26 to do the work.. they'll know what needs to be done to fix its lack of ability to return oil to the sump.

it wont be cheap.. anything on the gtr is expensive

as for ur pm.. i havent got a picture of the headgasket... it was a Nismo unit taken from the JGTC cars that ran the RB26..

    • The real question is, on some of those wild roads they call highways, how many times did a farmer in an old ute from the early 2000s blaze past you over double lines?   Tassie is a wild and really cool place, and after doing a work related road trip there January of 24, I understand why Targa Tasmania is ran there, and is so tough to do well at! We had a brand new Camry Hybrid that handled quite nicely, and thankfully weren't in an old car, because cresting some of those hills in a 100kmh zone for it to suddenly be like "surprise f**kers, this is a recommended 30kmh hard right turn" wouldn't be pretty. We weren't racing the Camry around, but we weren't slouching in the bends either. But my lord those old farmers know their old clapped out utes, and those roads, as they were absolutely hammering it!   You're also super lucky to make it up to Mt Wellingtong this time of year. It's often road closed with snow/ice! Also, I hope you hit up Salamander Road in Hobart for some insanely good food (I highly recommend the dimly lit Irish pub for a Guiness Pie, or even the bangers and mash!!!)   How long did the Ferry take to get across? I want to do a road trip of Tas on my own time, but I get horrifically sea sick, and I don't want me on the Ferry, just the car 😛

    • Hmm not really, I'd say its race car life or modified car life when you make 3 or 4 times the power Nissan designed the car for lol. 
    • I'll let others with more breakage chime in, but I can't think of anyone who had a problem with the standard centre plate before they had a problem with the standard gears - the plate generally just gets replaced for safety when the gearset is upgraded. As for the gearsets, its not like they are OK at 600Nm and break at 601. Their longevity is a combination of how much torque you are making and how gentle you are on shifts (or not).
