Hi guys Im a long time lurker however I used to be pretty active on NS.com when i was interested in my 180

Anyhow I sold my 180sx a couple of weeks ago and just got back from Brisbane today with my new V35. Let me tell you that driving from Brisbane to Townsville "aprox 1400k" is a lot nice in the V35 compared to the 180sx which was drift spec :S just wish the V35 had cruise control!

only just got back tonight and given the car a quick wash to get all the bugs off it, so iv taken a couple of pics in my units carpark will have to go and get some better shots during the day next week when I get more time off work

I love the car but I have 2 gripes with it

the 1st one is that the oil dipstick is a pain in the ass to get back in !!!!! why the hell nissan decided to make that part they way they did is beyond me, iv also noticed that the end of my dipstick looks a little bent/twisted... oil on the stick is higher on one side than the other so im taking the reading from the side which has oil on it lower down the stick

the 2nd is that my indicator switch works fine for everything except for turning left, it will indicate but I have to apply a fair bit of upward pressure on it for it to indicate left and it dosent click and keep indicating like it will when indicating right... im guessing the easiest thing to fix this problem would be to fit a new indicator/light stick “switch"

I also noticed a strange thing which looks like a card reader or something im guessing for the toll systems in Japan which is located on the dash as 2 little "things" and a silver thing near your leg in the foot well

theres also some speaker thing on the top of the windscreen that says something in Japanese about 10 secs after the car is started

I also have a bag of what I believe is the factory Xeon looms and lights can someone confirm if it looks like I have all I need to get them going again

anyhow here are pics

Yes that looks like the xeon and they dont look cut your lucky. Is your car auto or manual how much did you end up paying for it , if you dont mind . I am awaiting my car still and they cut my xeon looms and also had to change the fijitsubo exhaust and the wheels , etc to standard . I didnt have a easy time importing the car myself.

annoying japapnese voice coes out of that silver box at your feet. unplug the box and remove hte cabling.

cruise control - easy! (too late now) I do a kit for them.

the jumbled mess of wires - ballasts and lights for the xenons.

who did the car if it was in brissy?

Not sure who did the complience ill have a look @ the papers I got with the car

Car came over with the wheels and the nismo zhust and got through with them still on fortunatly for me

I'll have to crack open the bag of loose xeon bits and things cus Im sure I could see some wires in there that looked cut :D

also you have a dealer fitted alarm. if its the FULL alarm - remove it before it strands you. they are put in with scotch locks and 99% of them are loose!

the majority of it is tied above the accel pedal.

how did you know my car has a factory alarm system? :S there are a couple of stickers on the glass saying there is an alarm system in the car

as far as removing it goes whats involved in that?

I have set it off by opening up the car using the key and not pressing the button on the key but all the noise is from the inside of the car

As far as keys go iv only got the 1 and after browsing through the other thread i better take good care of the one that Iv got

shogun car company did the compliance on the car

ok that tells me exactly who did it.

the ultrasonic eyes tell me what the alarm is.

as for removing it. its all plug and go with scotchlocks/cable ties holding it underthe dash. find the two/three units and remove them along with the harnesses they are tied to. one will chase over to the passneger side. that will involve dropping the glovebox to get at the rest of it.

the whole exercise will take 15 min to do and save you a LOT of headache for when it goes south and stuffs up.

As for me I do 4f the Major compliance shops here in brisbane and at any given time I have a couple of customer cars on the go with mods. (be it the TV/navi/Cruise DVD etc.) overall I see 5-10 of these cars a week and I'm VERY familiar with them.

in regard to cruise I do offer a plug and play kit if you are mechanically inclined. it is sold with instructions as well (the instructions do have a disclaimer saying professional instruction strongly recommneded!) to make the job pain free.

keys- contact nissan japan with your chassis number and they can look it up for you. that one key will break eventually then you are pretty much screwed.

Cheers for the info Chris

I'll have a look @ the alarm system on my days off work next week and see if i feel confident pulling it apart

As for the cruise control ill hold off on that for the moment as Id sooner have someone who knows what their doing hook it up, and up here in Townsville finding someone who knows what they are doing is hard thing. Im good for doing an oil change on a car and thats about it when it comes to working on them and as for the V35 i haven’t even looked yet to see where the oil filter is

As for the key considering I cant read or speak Japanese how do I get in contact with Nissan Japan? sorry if this has been covered before haven’t done a search

Once I get in contact with them and give them the VIN will they be able to code the key and send it to me all ready to go?

Also my cars now got 55K on it and i have no records of whats been serviced on it, what things might I need to get done now or in the future to keep everything running the way they should

Thanks

in regards to service - its part of compliance that the car gets a fully factory service with EVERY FLUID changed. some shops do it some do not. if in doubt do EVERY thing you think needs to be done at that distance. there should be a book in the car stating service intervals.

as for the key. its not that simple. the email to japan (see FAQ) will net the immobiliser codes so you can get nissan to recode the key for you. no codes - no keys.

that help?

Ill check out the FAQ on the e-mail to japan

had a good read through the key thread and saw an address there

seems like one member got it his/her key sorted but another didint when they e-mail'd nissan something about a code not being on the sticker on cars made after 2001 :S

from what I was reading in the paperwork the car came with the only thing I think they drained/changed was the brake fluid.... nothing about any other fluids

thanks again

re coding. I disagree. I had a customer with a 2003 get his via emailing nissan JPN. he stated that he imported the car from japan and that nissan oz did not wish to help and he needed the codes so he could get a key c ut for the car. stated the chassis # , model number and the complete set of codes on the BCM. that netted a 5 digit number.

the current sedan I have now has a steel tag on the key. if you have that - there is your code.

No such luck with the steel tag, i know what ur talking about I have a set of keys for my Kawasaki ZX636 and the master code key has the metal tag on its key ring

Ill take a pic of the numbers in question and e-mail it along with all the other details to Nissan JPN and hopefully should get lucky with a responce that I want to hear

    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
