Is there a preference as to which type of stock coil to use on a modded RB26 engine? I have early RB25 coils with internal amplifiers, are they just as "powerful" as the coils with the separate amplifier? Thanks.

Do you mean the ignition power transister? If thats the case, then the coils are basically the same strength, onlt one uses an internal and the other an external. Early rb25's(up to s2 r33)have external. The only thing is the late coils are newer so are morelikely to be in better condition.

Ye, basically not much difference.

Either way, good condition coils are good for 400rwkw without a drama, plenty of people have done it.

If your running out of spark - HKS DLI + stock coils (or splitfires). Easy.

Engine should make 600 flywheel HP (looking for an endurance spec, all steel on 2860-10's, running Motec M800 ECU. I have a set of known good coils with built in amplifiers from my RB25 engine and was hoping to use those. I believe the Motec will trigger them directly. Thanks for the replies.
