after Guy fitted my BOV on for me (HKS SSQV) my car was getting more km's out of a tank, and it was backfiring when i gave it stick causing the flames... awesome...

is genuine HKS... Sunny dude, i would take out your BOV and just sell it and get a genuine HKS... china BOV's = super ghey

100km's less out of a tank is not worth the wank factor, more km's is though

As Bubba said, it wont run rich unless the BOV is actuating.

If the BOV is actuating under load. Its not tight enough.

Properly working Atmospheric BOV's will only 'smoke' and run 'rich' when they need to "Blow off" extra air. (And that's to do with changes in Load)

Just tighten it, make it work properly.

That 'Extra' fuel coming through the exhaust would have just gotten burnt by an unloaded engine anyway. Which will not effect your economy. Really, its not extra fuel, because it was going to get injected anyway.

(On a side note, AT A GUESS, because the princeples of induction may counter this - if you plumb back a bov in front of the AFM, you will read that portion of air twice, and then there will be 'extra' fuel injected.)

Your smoke on load is a sign the BOV may not be operating correctly.

I think im just repeating what people have said ?

However there are some myth's being said too.

its got nothing to do with the bov spring being tight enough.

its got to do with the stock bov recirculates the air back into the intake pipe. atmosphere bov vents to the air. therefore less air in the intake

less air + same fuel = running rich. its very common problem, atmo venting bov are complete wank factor nothing wrong with stock bov i had no issue running one with 350rwhp and if yours is leaking get a set of gtr bov

Are you saying all atmospheric bov's will reduce fuel economy ?

Retract this, ive realised stock setups dont plumb back infront of the afm:

The guy was saying that he was getting lots of black smoke UNDER LOAD not on liftoff. Puffs of black smoke on liftoff or gearchange is normal with an atmo bov that hasn't been tuned for it. PLUMES OF BLACK SMOKE UNDER LOAD IS NOT JUST BECAUSE THE BOV IS ATMO. Something is wrong and it is most likely leaking when it shouldn't be.

wank factor?

Whats wrong with atmo bov's? I quite like mine.

As long as they arent overly loud.. they sound nice =)

If you like the sound of Harpo Marx sneezing or the amplified noise of a mouse being squashed, I'm sure they sound real good to you.

These noises are in no way associated with any kind of 'power' experience. If you like repeditive 'pachoo' and squeaking noises then Fisher Price has a great range of electronic musical toys on offer this christmas.

I reckon they should make them sound like farts at least then they have better comedy value.

My kids (incuding the 3yr old) now point at cars and say 'ricer!' when they hear these.

Least then you can be a sick kent!!

Who cares guys really, if you like the little sqeak sound, go for it... i prefer the dosing vl sound, not cuz i like vl,s i just like the sound, but that deep bass dose, not that shit high pitched annoying dose...

    • I’ve just installed a Uniclutch sport into my R32. I’ve been blown away by it… it drives like a stock Toyota Corolla. It doesn’t make sense to me that a performance clutch can drive this well. I was about to pull the trigger on a Nismo Coppermix twin plate when I discovered the Uniclutch and decided to give that a shot instead. They’ve changed the game and I couldn’t be happier.    I was previously using an Extreme cushioned button clutch with lightened flywheel. I’m still using the same lightened flywheel with the Uniclutch.

    • To be Frank (always liked that name), I reckon this is a better idea. I'm an R32 man from day 1 and the really good surviving examples that are still in stock form should stay that way. Let ye conscience guide you my son 🙂
